Galaxy Note9 - Add or Remove Apps and Widgets on Your Home Screen (SM-N960W)

You've always wondered - is there a difference between apps and widgets? The short answer: yes. In a nutshell, apps are programs that open when you touch their icon. On the other hand, widgets are apps that are always active on your Home screen, such as the weather widget that shows you the weather in real time. Some other common widgets include event calendars and Google Search.

Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

When you have a lot of apps, it can be difficult to find the one you need. To access them faster, add frequently used apps to the Home screen, so they'll be right there.

From a Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen. Touch and hold the app you want to add to the Home screen. Hold and wait for 2 seconds, then drag it to the desired location and release. Now you can access it from your Home screen. Totally convenient.

If you're cleaning up your Home screen and want to remove apps you don't use as often anymore, touch and hold the app you want to remove, and then touch Remove from Home.

Widgets are a little windows into apps that are placed on your Home screen. They provide you with instant information and there is no need to even open an app!

Add or Remove Widgets on a Home Screen 1

From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty area, and then touch Widgets. Touch and hold the desired widget, and then drag it to the desired location. If the widget is resizable, you will see a frame around it. To adjust the size of the widget, touch and drag the edges of the frame. When you want to exit Edit mode, touch anywhere outside the widget. You can also move the widget by touching and holding it, and then dragging it to a new location.

There may be multiple widgets available depending on the app selected. If there is not enough space for the widget on the current Home screen, the widget will be placed on a new Home screen.

Don't want that widget anymore? Delete it from the Home screen. First, touch and hold the widget you want to remove, and then touch Remove from Home screen. Bye, bye widget.
