Galaxy Note9 - Pair Your Phone to a Bluetooth Device (SM-N960W)

Say goodbye to that tangled mess of wires. Your Galaxy phone has Bluetooth, which means you can wirelessly connect your phone to speakers, headphones, or other devices.

Screens and settings available may vary depending on your Canadian wireless service provider and your software version.

You just got new Bluetooth headphones you can't wait to try out. First, make sure the Bluetooth device is in pairing mode. If you are not sure how to start pairing mode on the Bluetooth device, check the user manual that came with it.

Connect to a Bluetooth Device
  • From Notification Panel: To open the Notification Panel, swipe down from the top of the screen. Touch the Bluetooth icon to turn on Bluetooth, and then select the device you want to connect to from the popup that appears.
  • From Settings: From Settings, search for and select Bluetooth. To turn on Bluetooth, touch the slider, and then select the device you want to connect to.

If needed, follow the on-screen instructions to connect your phone to the Bluetooth device. The instructions will vary by device.

Bluetooth is super convenient, but it can drain your phone's battery. When you're done listening to music or using a wireless device, you should turn off Bluetooth to save battery.

  • From Settings: From Settings, search for and select Bluetooth. To turn it off, touch the slider.

Unpair from a Bluetooth DeviceClick to Expand

Maybe you want to try those headphones with your laptop next. If so, unpair them from your phone's Bluetooth, so you can connect them to a different device.

  • From Notification Panel: To open the Notification Panel, swipe down from the top of the screen, and then touch and hold the Bluetooth icon. Touch Settings next to the paired device, and then touch Unpair.
  • From Settings: From Settings, search for and select Bluetooth. Touch Settings next to the paired device, and then touch Unpair.

To connect again or connect a different device, you have to pair the devices.
