Port forwarding on your Connect Home with SmartThings

Whenever you are out the house, it is natural to wonder what is going on when you are not there. What if something happens while you are away? No worries, when you set up port forwarding on your Connect Home, you can view your smart home's security cameras from almost anywhere. And that is not all - if you add a port, you can also remotely access many other devices over the internet.

Note: The provided information refers to devices sold in Canada. The available screens and settings may differ for devices sold in other countries. You can visit the SmartThings website to check device compatibility and gather more information.

Note: When you add a port to a device, it will send information directly to your Connect Home.

1 Navigate to and open the SmartThings app.
2 Tap the Home icon, and then select the location with your Connect Home hub.
3 Tap the Devices tab (at the bottom of the screen), swipe left or right until you find your hub, and then select it from the list of devices.
4 Tap the DEVICES button.

Note: It may say something different depending on how many devices you have connected. For example, it might say 2 DEVICES or 3 DEVICES.

5 Select your desired device from the list of connected devices.
6 Tap Add port.
Tap Add port.
7 Enter your port information, and then tap DONE.
