How to make your Samsung soundbar turn on automatically

If you want the convenience of having your Samsung soundbar turn on automatically when it's connected to your TV, there are two simple methods to achieve this: Auto Power Link and Anynet+. By using an optical cable for Auto Power Link or an HDMI cable for Anynet+, you can enjoy a hassle-free TV-watching experience without reaching for the soundbar remote.

Note: The instructions provided are for Samsung soundbars sold in Canada. Settings and options may vary for devices sold in other countries.

To enable Anynet+ and Audio Return Channel (ARC) using an HDMI cable:

1 Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port on your soundbar to your TV's HDMI (ARC) port.
2 Set the soundbar to D.IN mode by pressing the Source button on the remote or soundbar. After about 2 seconds, the source will automatically change to TV ARC.

3 Press and hold the right directional pad on the remote for more than 5 seconds or until "Anynet+" appears on the soundbar display. This will activate or deactivate Anynet+.

Note: Anynet+ should be turned on by default and can only be deactivated on 2019 (series R) and earlier soundbar models. Anynet+ functions exclusively via HDMI when connected using ARC.

To activate Auto Power Link with an optical cable:

1 Connect your soundbar to your TV using an optical cable.

Note: Ensure you remove the plastic protector caps before using the optical cable.

2 Set the soundbar to “D.IN” mode by pressing the Source button on the remote or soundbar.

Note: On 2020 (series T) and later models, set the source to “BT Ready”.

3 Press and hold the left directional pad on the remote for more than 5 seconds or until "Auto Power Link" appears on the soundbar display. This will activate or deactivate Auto Power Link.

Note: Auto Power Link functions exclusively with an optical connection and should be turned on by default.
