Samsung TV - Use Tap view to mirror your phone on your TV

Your 2020 Samsung TV comes with a brand-new feature for mirroring your phone’s screen. Use Tap view to display your phone’s screen on your TV so you can enlarge photos, show friends a video, or maximize a spreadsheet for easier viewing. Set up Tap view in the SmartThings app and on your TV to start transferring your phone’s screen with a simple touch.

The provided information refers to TVs sold in Canada. The available settings and options may differ for devices sold in other countries. Tap view service only works with Samsung Galaxy devices running Android 8.1 and above, and when mobile screen is on.

In order to use screen mirroring, you will need to set up the Tap view feature on your phone and TV. You’ll also need to use the SmartThings app on your phone. Tap view is compatible with Galaxy devices runnng Android 8.1 or higher, and version 5.1 in the SmartThings app.

When connected to SmartView, you can control your TV’s volume using your phone’s volume keys. If you’d like to turn off SmartView on your TV, just disconnect your phone or press the Back button on the TV’s remote control.

Use Tap view

Tap view is handy when you need to enlarge something on your phone, like a photo or video. You can use screen mirroring to make assignments easier if you're working from home or when showing a video to a large group.

Use Tap view

Simply tap the back of your phone against your TV to mirror your phone’s screen. Make sure to tap gently so you don’t accidentally damage the devices, and avoid tapping your device on the corner of the TV or directly on the TV’s screen. You can add a protective case to your phone for extra security if needed. For best results, you should tap on the top or side of your TV. If you’re listening to music or watching a movie on your phone, you can tap it against the TV again to switch the playback as well.
