What is a Pixel and a Megapixel?

Last Update Date : May 16. 2018

Pixel is short for Picture Element; a pixel is a single dot in a graphic image; when many dots are connected it will make up a picture. The more pixels, or dotes, the better the resolution of the picture.

Megapixel, one million pixels, refers to the resolution of a digital imaging device, such as a monitor, scanner, video camera, etc… When you buy such a device it will display the MP (short from term for Megapixel) of that product.
