Filters:

Regularly check your machine’s filters to ensure they are clean and free from debris. Over time, lint and small items can collect in the drain pump filter during wash cycles, which may affect performance.

Doors:

Keep the door seal clean and free from dirt or residue. After each wash, leave the door open to allow the drum and seal to air dry. This helps prevent bacteria build-up and reduces the risk of unpleasant odours.

Cycles and detergent:

Cold water can impact how well detergent dissolves. If you regularly use cold wash cycles, choose a detergent specifically designed for low temperatures to ensure effective cleaning. Using too much fabric conditioner in colder washes can also cause residue build-up.

Positioning:

  • Increased indoor heating can lead to condensation build up around the appliance, so ensure the laundry area is well ventilated to help prevent dampness
  • If the appliance is located in a colder area, such as a garage, ensure it is protected from freezing temperatures, as frozen pipes could affect water flow

Cleaning the filter:

You may be drying more woollen items this time of year, which produces more lint within the dryer. It is recommended to empty the lint filter after every use to maintain the effectiveness of your dryer.

Cleaning the heat exchanger:

It is recommended to clean the heat exchanger every 25 uses of the machine. Use the brush provided to gently remove any build-up of debris and be careful not to damage the fins.

Positioning:

  • If the dryer is located in an unheated area, such as a garage, protect it from freezing temperatures to avoid damage to internal components.
  • In colder months, dryers may take longer to reach optimal operating temperatures, which can increase cycle times. Keeping the room at a moderate temperature can improve drying efficiency.
  • If your dryer is positioned in a warmer area of your home, ensure there is adequate ventilation to prevent excess humidity or condensation.

Loading the dryer:

  • When drying heavier items in winter, always follow the recommended load limits and avoid overloading the machine.
  • Heavier and lighter items dry at different rates, so consider separating loads where possible.
  • Fasten duvet covers when drying bedding to prevent smaller items from becoming trapped inside and remaining damp.
