Install a Water Filter in a Samsung Fridge

The water filter can be located in three locations and this depends on the model of your refrigerator. Three locations where this can be found is top right hand side of the freezer compartment or between the crisper drawers or sometimes behind the refrigerator.

Choose one of the steps below to install (or remove) the water filter located in your refrigerator. The following images vary depending on the model of your refrigerator, however, the steps for installation is still the same.

Please note:

●      If you are having trouble getting the filter out of the fridge, turn off water supply valve to the refrigerator and dispense water from the water dispenser until it runs out completely. This will lower the amount of pressure in the filter housing, and allow you to remove the filter easily. Just remember to turn the water supply valve ON once the new filter has been installed.

●      The  Filter light turns red to let you know when it is already time to change your water filter cartridge. To give you time to get a new filter, the red light comes on just before the capacity of the current filter runs out. Changing the filter on time provides you with the freshest, cleanest water from your refrigerator.

4 Remove the old filter completely; insert the new filter into the filter housing, and follow the steps above in reverse to complete the installation.

Please note:

●      Apply a slow and steady pressure when you turn the filter. Turning the water filter may be difficult, but it ensures a tight seal. Moreover, remember to turn on the water supply valve if you have turned it off. To reduce risk of water damage to your property do not use generic brands of water filters, we recommend using only Samsung water filters.

●      Samsung will not be legally responsible for any damage, including, but not limited to, property damage caused by water leakage from use of a generic water filter. Samsung refrigerators are designed to work only with Samsung water filters.

1 Grab your new water filter and remove the protective cap. It is also a good idea to write the date on the sticker which comes in the box of the new filter and stick it on the filter.
2 Remove the old filter from it's housing by turning it from right to left (anti-clockwise).
3 Position and insert the new filter into the filter housing. Slowly turn the filter from left to right (clockwise) to align the printing mark on the cover, locking the filter into position. Make sure to align the water filter mark with the centre of the cover filter printing as illustrated. Remember to not over-tighten

5 Lastly, run about 3 litres of water through the water dispenser and throw away. Make sure the water flows clearly again before drinking.

Note: A newly installed water filter cartridge may cause water to briefly spurt from the water dispenser. This is due to air getting into the line.
