Reset APN settings on a Samsung device

If your Samsung phone or tablet will not access your Mobile Data connection or apps only download over Wi-Fi networks, there are a couple of things to check on your device. This page outlines how to reset the APN settings, which essentially forces the device to re-read the information from the mobile network and your SIM card. Resetting the APN settings won't effect any other settings on your phone or tablet; and will resolve most common Mobile Data connectivity issues.

 

The following guide is particularly handy if you've swapped SIM cards recently and are no longer able to access the Mobile Data on your account, or if the Mobile Data option on your device is greyed out. Check the page on How to enable Mobile Data for information on making sure your device can use the internet over your mobile network.

Please contact your telco to ensure that Mobile Data is active on your account.

Reset APN Settings:

1 Swipe up on the Home Screen or tap on Apps.

2 Tap on Settings.

3 Tap on Connections.

For Older devices: Select More Networks from the Settings instead of Connections

4 Tap on Mobile networks.

5 Tap on Access Point Names.

6 Tap on More options (the three dots) > Reset to default.

7 Confirm you understand that other APNs you have added will be removed by tapping on Reset.

8 The APN will read directly from your SIM card and save to your device
