Tab S7: Device Layout & Functions

Charging the Battery

1 Connect the USB cable to the USB power adaptor
2 Plug the USB cable into the device’s multipurpose jack.
3 Plug the USB power adaptor into an electric socket.
4 After fully charging, disconnect the charger from the device. Then, unplug the charger from the electric socket.

S Pen nib

  • Use the S Pen to write, draw, or perform touch actions on the screen.
  • Hover the S Pen over items on the screen to access additional S Pen features, such as the Air view feature

S Pen button

  • Press and hold the S Pen button to launch the preset app. If you press the button once or twice while using apps, the device will perform certain features. Refer to Air actions for more information.
  • Hover the S Pen over the screen and press the S Pen button to display the Air command features.
  • While pressing and holding the S Pen button, drag the S Pen over items to select them.

Charging the S Pen

The S Pen must be charged before you can control apps remotely by using the S Pen button. When the S Pen and the S Pen charger are properly aligned, charging will begin. If the Air action feature is deactivated, the S Pen is only charged while the device is being charged.

Replacing the S Pen nib

If the nib is becomes dull, its recommended to replace it with a new one.

1 Firmly hold the nib with the tweezers and remove it.
2 Plug the USB cable into the device’s multipurpose jack.

Caution:

  • Be careful not to pinch your fingers with the tweezers. 
  • Do not reuse old nibs. Doing so may cause the S Pen to malfunction. 
  • Do not press the nib excessively when inserting the nib into the S Pen.
  • Do not insert the round end of the nib into the S Pen. Doing so may cause damage to the S Pen or your device. 
  • Do not bend or apply excessive pressure with the S Pen while using it. The S Pen may be damaged or the nib may be deformed. 
  • Do not hard press on the screen with the S Pen. The pen nib may be deformed. 
  • If you use the S Pen at sharp angles on the screen, the device may not recognise the S Pen actions. 
  • If the S Pen is not working properly, take it to a Samsung Service Centre.

Inserting Micro SD Cards & SIM Cards

Installing a MicroSD card

 

Your Tab S7's memory card capacity may vary from other models and some memory cards may not be compatible with your device depending on the memory card manufacturer and type.

 

The Galaxy Tab S7 supports the FAT and the exFAT file systems for memory cards. When inserting a Micro SD card formatted in a different file system, the device will ask to reformat the card or will not recognise the card. To use the memory card, you must format it. If your device cannot format or recognise the memory card, contact the memory card manufacturer or a Samsung Service Centre.

The Tab S7 is compatible with a Micro SD Card and can support up to 1TB of external storage.

1 Insert the ejection pin into the hole on the tray to loosen the tray.

Ensure that the ejection pin is perpendicular to the hole. Otherwise, the device maybe damaged.

2 Pull out the tray gently from the tray slot.

Please Note: When removing the tray from LTE Variant devices, the mobile data connection will be disabled until the tray is reinserted.

3 Place a memory card on the tray with the gold-coloured contacts facing downwards.
4 Gently press the memory card into the tray to secure it.

If the card is not fixed firmly into the tray, the memory card may leave or fall out of the tray.

5 Insert the tray back into the tray slot.

  • If you insert the tray into your device while the tray is wet, your device may be damaged. Always make sure the tray is dry. 
  • Fully insert the tray into the tray slot to prevent liquid from entering your device.

Inserting a SIM Card

 

If you have purchased an 4G variant tablet follow the below guide to insert your nano SIM card

Powering the Device On / Off

As the Power and Bixby functions have now been intergrated to one button it may seem tricky powering your device on or off. Fortunately, there are a few different ways of powering your Galaxy Tab S7 off. Either through your Quick Panel, using the hard keys or activiating Bixby Voice and saying "Turn off the phone." Click one of the drop down menus below to learn all the different ways of powering down your Galaxy Tab S7.

1 Swipe down to access your Quick Settings and tap on the Power Icon button.

Powering off via Side Key

 

On Tab S7, you can  remap the power off menu by pressing and holding the Side key. If you are pressing the side key and noticing that only Bixby is being launched, you may need to customise your Side key functions.

1 Launch Settings > Advanced Features
2 Tap on Side Key
3 Under Press and Hold, select Power off menu

Using the Side & Volume Keys

1 Press and hold the Side and Volume down keys.
2 Tap on Power Off
Using Bixby Voice

If you would like to use Bixby Voice to power off your device, it is important to remember that you will need to sign into your Samsung Account, an internet connection either mobile data or a Wi-Fi connection and completely setup Bixby Voice.

1 Launch Bixby by saying Hi, Bixby
2 Tell Bixby to Turn off my Tablet
3 Bixby will then ask you to reconfirm your request.

You will be able to confirm the command by saying Yes or tapping the Power off button.Once confirmed, your Tab S7 will shut down.
