How to set up and use Galaxy AI features on the Galaxy Buds3 FE
The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE integrate advanced Galaxy AI features like Active Noise Cancelling, Gemini Live or Interpreter, offering a hands-free voice-controlled AI experience and seamless real-time translation capabilities directly through your earbuds. These features are designed to make your smartphone more convenient to use, or enhance communication in multilingual environments, making interactions more natural and efficient.
Setting up Galaxy AI features
Before utilising Galaxy AI features, ensure your Galaxy Buds3 FE are properly set up:
Please note:
- Connecting Samsung Galaxy Buds as Bluetooth Audio is available regardless of the Operating System you’re on.
- To use the Galaxy Wearable app, Samsung Galaxy Buds must be paired with a smartphone running Android 11.0 or above with at least 1.5 GB of memory.
- For devices running One UI 8.0 and later, settings can be configured directly in the phone settings. For devices running on earlier versions of One UI, configurations can be found in the Galaxy Wearable app.
Active Noise Cancelling
Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) helps reduce unwanted background noise, allowing you to stay immersed in your music, podcasts or calls without distractions, and helping you to create a more focused and enjoyable audio experience.
Please note: ANC will only function when both Buds are securely placed in your ears.
You can easily enable ANC directly from your Buds without needing to open your phone:
This makes it simple to switch between being fully immersed in your audio and staying aware of your environment when needed.
Please note: If you prefer to do it on your smartphone, you can do so through the Galaxy Wearable App.
Gemini
Gemini has a range of handy AI functions like Gemini Live and Gemini Voice that you can easily make use of through your Buds 3 FE:
Everyday personal assistant tasks
You can set reminders, alarms, calendar events and send messages or make calls just by using your voice. Manage tasks across Google apps like Gmail, Calendar and Messages, all without having to switch apps.
Smart, context-aware help
Ask Gemini for more context based on what’s on your phone screen or camera, like “tell me more about this” or “what is this in the background of my photo?”.
Writing aids
You can brainstorm out loud and draft emails, blog posts, stories or social media content. Gemini will help you to refine the tone and style or rephrase the text to suit your needs.
How to set up Gemini
To use Gemini with your buds, you first need to make sure that your Galaxy smartphone is running the One UI 8 operating system.
Once this is done, you have to make Gemini your smartphone’s default digital assistant:
Live Interpreter
Galaxy Buds3 FE support two primary modes in Live Interpreter:
Conversation Mode (Two-way translation)
Conversation Mode is designed to help you converse with someone who speaks a different language. Your speech gets translated and delivered via the phone (while you hear their speech through the Buds), enabling cross‑language conversation.
Conversation Mode is especially helpful when engaging in basic interactions like ordering food, asking for directions or chatting with vendors.
How to set up Conversation Mode
Please note: If it is your first time using Interpreter, set permissions to allow it to record audio as well as find and connect to other devices.
Please note: In Conversation mode, only the user wearing the earbuds will hear the translated audio. The other participant will need to rely on the device's speaker or read the translated text on the screen.
Listening Mode (One-way translation)
Listening Mode is ideal for the following uses:
Guided tours and lectures:
The speech is translated in real time, and you hear it directly through your Galaxy Buds3 FE. You can focus on what’s being said without constantly looking at your phone.
Language learning:
Great for passive listening exercises, like exposure to foreign media where you want to process content in real time, for example movies, podcasts or lectures.
Solo travel:
Useful when receiving information from locals like museum guides, public announcements or spoken instructions.
