What to do if my Washing Machine is Leaking
Please Note: The information on this page is for Australian products only. Models, sequences, error codes or settings will vary depending on location and/or where the product had been purchased. To be redirected to your local support page please click here.
Water leaks from the Washing Machine may be related to controllable sets of circumstances that can be remedied. On many Front-Loading washers, some water dripping from the door is often normal, especially after a cycle. Be aware that this is only considered a leak if water is dripping while this door is closed.

To figure out what might be causing a leak and how to fix it, try the following simple troubleshooting steps.

Ensure your machine is switched off before troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting
A leak may be the result of a minor problem that you may be able to correct yourself with the help of the following instructions. Perform all steps before testing if the leak is gone, just in case of multiple causes. If the leak persists after performing all troubleshooting steps, Get in Touch.
Check the Door Seals and Water Supply Connections
Check the door seals and fold them back to look for damage or foreign matter. Even something as small as a strand of hair can cause a leak if it's in the seal.
Inspect all the hoses and their connections for damage - including the rubber on the hose, rings, and anything they connect to. Damaged hoses or rings should be replaced.
Ensure the door is fully closed and nothing is blocking it. In the case of damage or missing pieces, Contact Us for assistance.
Check the Drain Hose Installation
Check that the drain hose is inserted into the drain pipe correctly. Samsung recommends a standpipe 60-90cm or 90-100cm* high. The drain hose must be connected through the hose clip to the standpipe, and the standpipe must fully cover the drain hose.
For more information, full installation instructions are available in your User Manual.
*The standpipe specifications mentioned here are only applicable to front load washers and pump-type top load models.
Clean the Pump Filter
The pump filter (also called the debris or drain filter) on your front load washer helps ensure that no foreign material passes through the pump and that your washer drains properly.
It is advised that you clean the pump filter of your washing machine 5-6 times a year to optimise operation, helping to keep your laundry free from odours and bacteria.

Use the Correct Detergent, and Keep the Drawer Clean
It is recommended that you clean the detergent drawer of your washing machine regularly to prevent any build-up of detergent, bleach, or softener.
Using too much detergent or non-HE detergent (even once) can result in excessive suds, causing detergent residue that contributes to multiple performance issues, including leaks or leak errors.
Ensure you aren't Overloading the Machine
Do not pack the washer with clothing until it is overloaded or too full, as this can also cause leak issues. Each Laundry Cycle may have a different weight limit for your load.
Consult your User Manual or our Laundry Cycles Explained page for more information.
Ensure the Washer is Level
One of the most important things about using a washing machine is levelling; making sure that the washing machine is installed on a level, solid floor that is not slippery.
If the floor is not level, use the levelling feet to adjust the height of the washing machine. Excessive noise and vibrations may occur alongside leakage during wash cycles if the washer is not levelled properly.

Run a Test Cycle
If you've found that you have corrected any of the issues on the list, it's a good time to run a Test Cycle to see if the leakage issue has been resolved. A good choice for a test cycle is Rinse and Spin. For assistance starting the cycle, consult your User Manual.
