Why does my Samsung oven make a popping sound?

Last Update Date : Apr 12. 2018

Sound from oven

A noise can sometimes be heard while the oven is preheating, being used, or cooling down. This is called "oil canning". Oil canning is caused by expansion or contraction of the rear oven wall. This is a normal condition.

When using LP gas, a popping sound may be heard when the burner shuts off. This is called "extinction pop" and is a normal condition.

Some models have a removable oven bottom. Verify the oven bottom is securely in place before using the oven. If it is not, an "oil canning" effect as described above, may occur with the oven bottom when it is heated or cooled.
