I've had this sound bar for around 18 months and I am extremely disappointed especially at the price point of this premium sound bar.In the time I've had it, my rear wireless speaker has been faulty twice. The one of the rear speakers started blinking rapidly and failed to ever connect. The whole sound bar was sent away and the faulty rear speaker was replaced under warranty. Now it's failing again with exactly the same issue , but I'm now out of warranty and would need to pay for the service and replacement, the last reapir cost was $300 and I find it unfair that the same problem fault has happened and I would need to pay for it. Very disappointed.

My only gripe about this system is the very limited choice of listening modes, there are only 3. My purchase was based on the fact that there are two rear speakers, unlike most other soundbar systems. Problem is, there is no "stereo" listening mode that would send the full spectrum of sound to ALL speakers. The rear speakers ONLY provide the background sounds or music, not the full vocals, like when you'e watching the news. Not sure why such a simple software feature has been skipped. Next time around, going back to a traditional AV receiver that has more listening mode options.

I previously had the K950 and the upgrade was mainly for DTS:X I did notice the sound quality upgrade too. They look the same but the sound is definitely superior. And samsung sorted Dolby Atmos over ARC its brilliant. I absolutely love this sound bar. The clarity and accuracy is precise. The atmos effect is insane for a sound bar. What they have achieved with this setup is incredible. It truly is. Music fills the room. Movies sound like the orchestra is in the room. Helicopters fly overhead. Rain feels like it will chill and soak you. If you want a simple but powerful setup do no overlook this. There is nothing that rivals it.

After reading lots of positive reviews I decided to go with this soundbar as it is one of few that met our living room setup needs (Atmos support & wireless speakers) however once setup at home I was underwhelmed at best. Our 7+ year old Yamaha HTR-3064 ($350 AUD) vs this are not even in the same league in terms of audio quality and surround sound reproduction. The bass is non existent (set to max +6) which is probably the worst part, if the subwoofer had crossover control and some more punch I could probably live with it, however for this price point im going to try and return it. I don't recommend this for the price and considering our old system sounds significantly better for far less cost, its very disappointing.

Ok, so for close to $2000. I bought a seemingly well reviewed Dolby Atmos Soundbar. Samsung, again happy to take your money, but not so great with the after sales support. The sound and the connections are "iffy" at best. The immersion is not to good, considering how it sells itself. Oh and the lack of brackets for the rear speakers (I call them GHOST speakers, as you can barely hear them or even access them) Subwoofer is more of a WOOFER (DOG) nothing, no real bass or resonance. Don't buy. To late for me but not for you.

Please check other soundbars before making a purchase. Bass is really low for the soundbar, even when you put it to max level. ATMOS content plays really well but music lacks the effect. We also didn't receive the brackets for the rear speakers. I don't know if other companies provide that or not but if I am paying top dollar for the soundbar, I expect basic things to be there. I am a big Samsung fan and using their products for last 8-9 years but regret this purchase badly.

Overall a great system, my only gripe is the lack of listening mode options, there are only 3. I purchased the HW-N950 because there are two additional rear speakers, unlike most other soundbar systems. Problem is, there is no "stereo" listening mode to get the full range of sound to fire from the rear speakers. For example, when watching the news, I want the vocals to also come from the rear. Not going to happen with this system!!! Such a simple feature wouldn't take much more work from their software engineers. Thinking of returning it and getting a traditional AV receiver that doesn't short-change me on the listening modes.

Review for K950, I feel everyone needs to know how poor this series is though. I will say the few times this works it sounds great with an Atmos track. That is all. TV Arc mode sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Requires cycling through inputs to get sound back. Remote and direct buttons on device will not work, requiring power cycle of device. The soundbar doesn't work with the Logitech remotes, - the software does not allow for direct input selection. According to Samsung, device works fine......

Consider your other options before you purchase the N950 soundbar. Music quality and general 5.1 sound is underwhelming. The bass speaker is poor, and it randomly crackles and pops when setup more than 60cm from the soundbar. The soundbar performs well with Dolby ATMOS however, with an extensive list of flaws this isn’t enough to satisfy the premium price tag. Sub $500 soundbars deliver similar general sound experiences (ie music or general TV). I used the N950 for 45 days before writing this review.

Fantastic detailed sounds excellent bass. Recognizes both Dolby Atmos and DTS X . Don't buy if you are looking for a lot of beat as this soundbar is more designed for Dolby Atmos and DTS. Pros :- Sound quality. Wireless and auto sync between speakers. 550Watts of sound. Both DTS X and Dolby Atmos support. Cons:- Samsung technical support. Samsung SmarThings app. Room size a minimum of 5mtr x 7mtr with height of atleast 4mtr(more research needed) Soundbar isn't recognized as speaker over Bluetooth(recognized as headphones). Drivers required (Can't play Dolby Atmos without Dolby Access app on Windows laptop.)

Having been pleased by this product, I find it has a hidden feature that it turns off if the content is paused! The time it takes is a few minutes, you can't even make a cup of tea without having to get the remote and turn it back on. I found some forums complaining about this and they seem to have been ignored. Well I am now gutted to have paid £1500 for this product to find that it has this stupid "feature", it makes it not fit for purpose and with no option to change it and it being ignored by Samsung I would no longer recommend this product and I am upset to recently have spent nearly £6000 on Samsung products to discover this and that Samsung don't seem to care!

I have had this soundbar now for 4 weeks and was reluctant at first because of the cost but as soon as I brought it home and set it up it blew me away. The sound that this soundbar creates while watching movies or listening to music is nothing but awesome. Its worth every penny. The Dolby atmos is amazing the way it fills the room with sound. The bass from the subwoofer shakes the settee which is 6 metres away from the subwoofer. My friends and family have come round to listen and their reaction is always the same WOW. My only Criticism is I am find it difficult to tweak the speaker levels on all the speakers which I have read will improve the sound quality even further.

sound quality when it works is nice but every week i encounter a new software issue. most recently hdmi arc audio stopped working and required a hard reboot of the soundbar to work. wifi audio constantly clips in and out and is essentiallly unusable. surround sound only works on wifi though, so your options are surround sound that clips in and out or just the bar itself. sound menu options connected to a samsung tv are imcomplete (“greyed out”) with no explanation. i have updated the firmware to the most recent. if you are looking for a nice sound system, pass on this one and put your money towards nicer hardware that doesn’t require such dependence on atrocious software.

Hi All, I purchased this sound bar for around $1,400 AUD in Jan of 2019. the remote and Bluetooth stopped working in June of 2023. I was told it was out of warranty and to take it to a Samsung repairer, which I did last week. They said that the mother board had failed and that Samsung don't have spares, so it can not be repaired. I'm very disappointed that this very expensive sound bar has failed and worse, that Samsung can't supply a replacement board so I can get it fixed. So it has cost me $500 per year.

Can not passthrogh Dolby Atmos and for me that makes it a dud. If i get a new xbox thats supports 4k 120 i would lose out on Dolby Atmos because i would have to use the hdmi 2.1 port on the tv. If i plugged the xbox into the soundbar i would be only able to display 4k 60. Either we need an update to the firmware on the tvs or soundbars so we can work around the problem or perhaps samsung should have a hdmi audio only output only their tvs in future in order to avoid such an issue.

I'm happy with the system overall if it was a $1200 system, it's not worth the $2000. The base is lacking, which is inline with what everyone has said, and has left me feeling very disappointed. The main soundbar is also very tall so I wouldn't buy this for a TV sitting on a stand, as we have to stand up to get the remote to register on the TV now as it's blocked by the sound bar.

I bought this product a few months ago and I think for a smaller apartment its not bad. Was ching 4K HDR + Atmos or DTS-X is quite an experience, but that depends on the movie as well and how well you MANUALLY calibrate the levels. Now, that was the first bad experience, for this price, Samsung should do better R&D, period. Pausing a movie from Netflix(Android based TV) or if you just leave the TV on for a while then want to watch some TV programms, the soundbar goes in standby and you have to MANUALLY tourn it back on...there is absolutely no way that I know to disable auto power off, and I tried to find this information everywhere I could, manual, formus, etc. So...you charge us 2k AUD and you dont leave us that choice? What in the name of the Big Labowsky are you thinking?! This is by far the most frustrating thing. I've experienced issues where I will start a movie from my blue ray player and after 3 - 4 seconds the whole image would disapear and the soundbar would display something with TV Speakers. I thought the cables were the problem, but after a few hours of going mental and a few restarts of the tv and bar suddenly it works. I tested the blue ray player directly in the TV and was working so I'm 99% sure it is the soundbar. This continues to happen once a month or so. Now...you would say do a firmware upgrade and sure, fare enough. I go on their website and there is a new version...but no changelog. Ok, I decided to contact support to ask them what is the new firmware fixing as they have a really bad history with new updates for this bar according to many users on Samsung's forums and other forums. NO ONE KNOWS!!! There is no information at all not even for the support teams of what the new software is fixing, or if adding new features like eARC, that would be nice. I find this absolutely disrespectfull for your clients. Find this for yourself if you don't believe me, there are countless fellows out there with some really strange problems and they can't do almost anything about it. Annyway, I would not recomand this product only because of what Samsung made of dealing with it and not of performance. When it works well, which is most of the time for me fortunately, the sound I think is astonishing, but thats because of Kardon engineer ing, not Samsung, that being my uneducated guess, and thats just because Samsung made everything else worse, software and support, the most important of all. Tipical.

I bought the N950 two weeks ago. I would have been happy if the price of the device was around $1000 AUD. The device does not justify its listed price. Bass is poor, rear sorround speakers are is of no use. It is good for certain types of movies only. It is not all good to watch 98% of movies on the market and good for nothing for listening music. I wish if I could return it. I would not reccomend this device at all.

i have to start with the downsides simply because they far outweigh the positives. i have a 2019 samsung qled tv this piece is paired with wirelessly. the utterly disappointing thing is that 60% of the time it works every time. it frequently disconnects and requires manual reboot/reconnection. also, the tv software menu has a very strange way of connecting via wi-fi vs bluetooth. instead of displaying the two as equal options within the same menu that one could pick from, the bluetooth connectivity option is buried in a further sub-menu. for a high-end piece that costs this much it is unacceptable to have this sort of issues when connecting to a tv from the same brand (samsung) released in the same model year.

Had this for nearly a week and it's really superb. The biggest issue of the week was finding a pair of 1/4" UNC 20 thread screws to attach the rear speakers to my existing speaker brackets on the wall. The soundbar is really well put together. Lovely finish and is loud. Very loud. Atmos and DTS:X works wonderfully well. Fantastic Beasts Atmos soundtrack has been a standout so far along with Jurassic Park's DTS:X soundtrack where the T-Rex made the room shake. Added bonus the Nintendo Switch's LPCM surround works when it's connected directly into the soundbar.

I bought this Samsung HW-N950 paired it with the Samsung QLED TV thinking that I would get to enjoy Dolby Atmos since both product are Samsung w/Dolby ATMOS. Well that's not the case. The only way I could get ATMOS from TV to Soundbar was to load a USB Drive with a DolbyATMOS.mp4 video. All the APPS, like Netflix, YouTube and Amazon can't/don't support ATMOS. This is a real disappointment since I don’t want to use an external video source connected to soundbar. I bought a smart TV and Soundbar with ATMOS so those would be a clean setup without a bunch or wires and disparate electronic products. Also, I agree with other comments that the bass is not as deep as expected, even with BASS and Subwoofer set to maximum.

I have had this sound bar for little over a month. I previously had the k850 which had its flaws and I was hoping this new sound bar would have solved everything! I read a lot of company reviews and there wasn’t a bad thing said about it so I lashed out and bought it paying $2000. Out of the box the bass was very weak, and I found the treble too high and adjusting any of the settings doesn’t make any difference ( same as the previous model) I watched Dolby Atmos films which sound great but the bass lacks compared to the previous model. If your not playing Atmos content the sound bar isn’t worth what your paying compared to the Bose sound touch and Sonos systems. Also while linked to Xbox one x if the game dose t support Dolby Atmos the rear speakers don’t work and the rear channels play through the side firing speakers on the soundbar which is annoying. Also no rear mounting brackets for the rear speakers, considering your paying that much it’s the least they could do. Knowing Samsung they don’t fix anything or update there products. This is the last product I will ever buy from Samsung . Very disappointed!

Default settings: overpowering low frequency bass, weak and unclear male vocals that sound like they are inside a cardboard box. Even after a subwoofer crawl for optimal placement, and reduce woofer to -6 or -12 the bass is disproportionately overkill. There is no auto room EQ or speaker distance calibration microphone. Manual EQ setting is awkwardly possible using the hidden remote features if you read the full user guide (not included), but is a global setting not individual channels. After hours of research and fiddling, I achieved significantly better sound by manual EQ band adjustment. However side and upward firing speakers sound muddy due to bouncing off flat and smooth walls, which is ideal. There is no speaker distance calibration setting, forcing a specific speaker and seat placement. The overhead height effects of this sound bar were disappointingly underwhelming. Overhead and height effects are barely noticeable unless you boost those channels to near maximum volume, which adversely affects EQ and channel volume balance. I diagnose technical faults for a living. When HDMI 2 and recently also HDMI 1 inputs became faulty (no sound or video), by a thorough process of elimination I isolated the cause as the sound bar. Multiple Samsung support consultants insisted that I was connecting it incorrectly, despite the instructions and diagram in their user guide, and the fact it has been working for weeks. Samsung support refused to believe that their sound bar can pass video through to the TV, repeatedly and condescendingly insisting that “the sound bar is only a speaker for sound“! Claiming the HDMI inputs are only used for audio devices such as a CD player with no video signal... Note that Audio Return Channel (ARC) from any TV does not support lossless Atmos audio, which is the main feature of this product. Atmos is not supported via optical cable either, as stated in the user guide. Even so, support insisted that "all external devices must connect directly to TV input for video", using ARC audio or optical out to the sound bar. They implied my TV or other non-Samsung devices are to blame by repeatedly asking whether my TV or Blu-ray player is Samsung, followed by “have you tried a different TV?” There is no chance I will buy more of their products after this exasperating experience! After several hours of futile troubleshooting, they eventually referred me to a service centre to inspect for a “suspected” fault, and warned I will be charged a fee because the sound bar is not actually faulty, I am just using it wrong. My condolences to anyone who has issues and needs support!

I bought the Samsung N950 a few months ago from Harvey Norman. I really went to buy a Sonos, but was persuaded by the salesman to buy this (? more margin from Samsung). I ended up in buying an expensive item with poor quality. I really so not understand what makes it $2000 worth as this product is worth less than $1000. The issues started after couple of weeks. Either the soundbar or the satellite speakers drops very often. They call the satellite speakers, firing speakers. But the sound comes through these speakers are so bad that you have to put hearing aids to listen the sounds that comes through these speakers. I contacted the Samsung customer care who advised me take the sound bar 50 km from where I leave and I leave 28 km from the Melbourne CBD.

The sub does not automatically link up at least 50% of the time and the rear speakers aren’t much better . This unit is well over priced and under delivers. Would not recommend this unit

I've bought a number of soundbars recently (different manufacturers) trying each one out, and was not happy. There were some fundamentals that they just couldn't get right. Eventually I ended up with the HW-N950 and out of the box it was way better than others. Good front seperation, good height... One issue for me....rear speaker volume. These really need to be enabled to pump up the volume more. I've had to drop the front to pretty much as low as possible, in order to hear the rear speakers. On occasion I can just hear it. I do have quite a large room, but the sales pitch I was given was that this system would be ideal for large rooms...well, for me, it 'nearly' is. I'm hoping a future firmware update can nail this issue...then it would be 5/5!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this soundbar a few weeks ago to test this bad boy out! When the delivery driver dropped it off, I was stunned by the size of the box. This should bar is huge and weighs a good 20lbs. The setup is super easy and controls from a digital panel on the front of the soundbar. After getting a chance to listen to TV versus Movies versus Music, I was extremely pleased by the quality of sound from this setup. This surround sound setup is versatile and can be fit anything from a Theatre room to a regular family room. The price tag is big, the soundbar is huge, but this won't be a purchase you'll regret. Check a few things, make sure you have enough space and if you are planning on mounting this to your wall, make sure its something that supports more than 15lbs.

1. The rear speakers almost have no sounds. I was looking for any setting to make their sounds louder so they are useless and you can put them away. 2. It has a faulty feature thet when you pause the music it turns off in few minutes by itself and you have to turn it on manually. This feature is too annoying. * These issues are not some acceptable problems. I suggest to make a survey to force SAMSUNG to recall or refound the money to the buyers as we have paid for it.

I've had this product for around 9 months and am quite impressed with the perfoemance, however I've found a few issues that detract from the experience. The bass speaker pops at irregular intervals, usually when there is constant low tones from atmospheric audio. I've attempted to diagnose the issue with different types of media - low bitrate streaming media vs. high bitrate 4K Blu-ray media - but it does not appear to be a compression issue. I have the sound bar connected to a Samsung MU7000 TV via HDMI-ARC. Secondly, I very rarely experience 7.1.4 surround sound, despite having 7.1 signals from Blu-ray media via an Xbox One X. I am at a loss as to what cable configuration would enable 7.1.4. Even when I do hear all channels firing, the rear speakers are extremely faint.

Hmm.. this could be content based causing the issue (if faulty it should happen all the time) - though if you feel that the subwoofer is faulty, please follow the below link to make a booking at your closest authorised service centre. As for your second point, the Dolby Atmos app needs to be installed on the Xbox One X via XBOX Store and changed in the Sound Output settings of the Xbox as this is not enabled as default. Atmos content recommended to use to experience TRUE 7.1.4 vs . 7.1 or 5.1 signals being upscale when using Sound mode – Surround into 7.1.4. You can enable Surround mode for all other content which will upscale the signal to output at 7.1.4 but this is SW based equalization and not the same as dedicated 7.1.4 Atmos Soundtracks. Xbox One X also supports Netflix Atmos – though please feel free to test this content if you have a subscription, or try the Dolby Atmos App Sample Videos to see the full experience with this Soundbar. I received this sound bar with new TV Q80R. I connected this sound bar through Hdmi ARC, it works ok however after 5 minutes of in activity sound bar powers itself down. This is very annoying. I am thinking returning this product back. I need to power on using sound bar's remote. Year 2019 and these people don't know how to make things right. Btw I tried using optical cable, BT and wifi. Same issue. Unfortunately there is no way of disabling this auto power down feature according to docs and internet search.

akkas : Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-N950 Soundbar. I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the user experience. When the Soundbar is connected via Optical or Bluetooth connection and there is no sound for 5 minutes, the set turns off automatically, as these technologies do not have a method of sending power On/Off commands. Decided to set up high end picture and sound with the Q70R QLED Smart 4k UHD TV and splashed out on the 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos Soundbar, both by Samsung. Not sure what the point of this is, if I cannot get Dolby Atmos through the television's AppleTV app (I want to watch Gravity with Dolby Atmos soundtrack, but cannot) or the Amazon Prime app (the Jack Ryan show has a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, but again, cannot get the full experience with my setup). This is extremely concerning. I have pre-paid for 3 years of Disney+ starting November 12, and I have no guarantee that either my high end television will have an app through which I can watch Disney+ or that even if it does, I will be able to experience in Dolby Atmos, which Disney+ supports, and my TV and Soundbar setup obviously should.

I bought this and set it up. I had so many problems with the sub and rear speakers. I had to keep manually reconnecting them only to have them drop off again. I spent hours trying to get equalisation right. It was farcical. Since the latest firmware update, I have proper sub and rear surround all the time. Atmos from Netflix on my Xbox is perfect. This thing has amazing sound and I set all equalisation back to 0 (out of the box) and it's great!! Sound spatial and penetrating is astounding. The range is brilliant with one movie (Kin) having sub reverb at low volume shuddering the room. Brilliant! I've had it good for a few weeks now and highly recommend it. If you're having problems, use smartthings to get the latest firmware upgrade and reset the machine and reconnect all speakers. Fixed.

I bought this top of the line sound bar when it was newly released earlier this year thinking that it will give me the highest quality of sound. Unfortunately, I was shocked when I connected it to my Qled tv, the treble sounds quality is very poor even the settings already to max level. Not satisfied at all. Almost not using it, coz it just ruined the good quality of my tv built-in speaker. You wasted lots of my money in this product.

I was initially worried about a few negative reviews and “issues” but decided to give the N950 a shot. For a soundbar, it’s OUTSTANDING! Once you have the settings on your TV (Arc, proper surround and Dolby) it performs beyond expectations. Issues that you may read about are likely related to improper tv/cable settings or HDMI cables. Perfect for our 15x20 room. A few more adjustments to each channel would be nice but using Dolby Atmos demos allows you to tweak through trial and error.

Product is buggy beyond belief. I thought Samsung would fix these issues which have been widely reported online but now even one year after introduction these protects remain buggy. The rear speakers and woofer lose connectivity every time the system is switched off and need to be power cycled to re enable. The blue lights remain on yet there is no sound. When the speakers work, the rear speakers are way too quiet. I have already tried all modes and maximized rear volume using the remote.

The sound bar sounds good when it works. But too often it doesn’t. Here are the issues that I experience often: 1. It changes the source from HDMI 1 or 2 to TV ARC on its own while watching a content. This cause the loss of both audio and video. 2. The rear speakers and the subwoofer disconnect too often. The blue lights stay solid blue indicating that they are connected, but they won’t work. It takes a full power down and restart to get them to work for a day before they do it again. 3. While playing a regular song from iPhone or Spotify or YouTube, the rear speakers won’t generate ANY sound. I have videos of all of this which I will upload to YouTube shortly as evidence. I would not recommend anyone buying this system until Samsung fixes them. Many others are reporting the same issues.

When the system works, it sounds good. Unfortunately, it almost never works. The wireless speakers will often disconnect. Sometimes the video doesn't work. The front display is too small. It doesn't have a way to directly set the source via IR (meaning Harmony integration is poor). It's difficult to determine what audio mode is being used. There are only two HDMI inputs and they are hard to get to. It is difficult to wall mount. Frankly, this is one of the worst purchases I've ever made. I got it for the 7.1.4 configuration, dolby atmos, and great sound. But the hours I've spent getting the sound bar to work are simply not worth the hassle. At this point I could have run wires to separates, patched and painted the drywall, and had a better sounding, more reliable system. I do not recommend buying this system.

In general this is a very high quality soundbar with top-of-the-line construction. It's actually quite heavy, and feels nice and rugged. Good looks too. The sound is crisp and clear and voices are not muddled or muted. We have HDMI drop-out issues with our AppleTV 4k using Dolby Vision. After about 30 minutes to 1 hour, the audio will totally drop out and/or the video will go all pixelated. Thinking this was a problem with the HDMI cables, we purchased the highest quality 18 Gbps cables from Monoprice and that didn't solve the problem. Just replaced the AppleTV with a brand new one and it's still happening. TV is a 2018 LG OLED C8 65". Seems like there is a firmware glitch with the soundbar that needs addressing ASAP. If you're planning on using Dolby Vision beware. Hopefully Samsung will address this soon!!

I have this set up with a Samsung Q9 (2018) and Panasonic UB9000; trying to get it to do what I want is a nightmare. Constantly discounts the ARC connection and switches to DIN which has nothing connected, no user interface for setup and the app does nothing. Now connects to my TV via wireless and I can’t stop it meaning no ARC control of volume or Blu-ray, my 10 year old Yamaha system was far easier to set up and control. Also no calibration options for setup

I am the owner of this soundbar since yesterday, it is really powerful in terms of size, great sound at least for the front, the sub works well, it didn't seem so subdued as many people say on the forums, the disappointing part is that of the speakers posterior, the volume is too low despite the dbs being set to maximum, there is not that feeling of sound wrapping, yes the effects arrive, both with atmos film and dolby 5.1 but it always seems to make only the front and sub bar, and there he realizes the rear speakers only with very strong effects. Even lowering the volumes on the front the volume between the rear and the front is never balanced. I hope that Samsung solves this problem by giving the possibility to go beyond 6db so as to be able to boost the rear volume even further or that by firmware you raise the volume.

Hi bought this system recently with an assurance from sales guys that this one is even better than Bose 700. But I am really disappointed after listening to it's performance in my home theater. It sounds better only in Dolby Atmos Videos. Its plain flat sound with any contribution in non Dolby Atmos videos. Rear speakers are just a waste of space and money. I can't understand what are they upto? I am really thinking of returning it back. Really disappointed.

I bought this yesterday. Had it up and running great, except after upgrading the firmware to 1003, the screen goes black and the the movie completely stops no matter what app or source I use. This will happen 10 - 15 times during a movie. Tried several different movies, and several different devices and I get the same results. 1003 Firmware broke my soundbar completely. I will be bringing this back to today and purchasing a competing system.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow, I was pleasantly surprised on the quality and power of this soundbar! I am a total movie nut and I must say, this was a great upgrade from what I had before for my 75" Samsung TV and I thought I had something pretty awesome before! Obviously the Dolby Atmos is a large part of the difference I noticed and it was crazy good! It seemed like sound was coming from all around and above me at times and was just a wonderful experience for the whole family. Streaming music from my phone was a snap, what a great feature! The quality of the soundbar is top notch and very well made and strong, it should last a very long time. It looks fantastic as well. I am having a hard time finding something i do not like about these speakers but as for now I give it an A+. If you are loooking for a good quality Soundbar at an affordable price that wont break the bank this is your unit.

I’ve had the soundbar over 7 months now and I have to say it’s fantastic. I’ve seen a lot of reviews that criticise the rear speakers, Atmos and bass unit. You will only get the best from the soundbar if your input is decent quality. I have The Xbox one x and I bought The Dolby Atmos app and the demo is absolutely breathtaking. Also Netflix and other movies I watch in Atmos really show off the sound bars capabilities.

Have had the bar for a few weeks now and have been reading quite a bit on some of the forums regarding issues but frankly we only all positives to say. Once you have the TV outputting the correct format to the bar the sound is amazing (we have Q7 TV so all works together very well). If you want simplicity but with the sound of a full surround system we recommend this bar.

I was skeptical about going from a AV receiver to a sound bar, hearing them in the store just isn't what you will hear at home. That being said, this was the best decision I have made to buy this bar, it is even better than my AV system. the sound is outstanding and the perfect surround sound for my room, Very happy and I highly recommend.

After the firmware update that got installed automatically. The rear speakers stop working. Light is blue on both. Jelmer: Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-N950 Soundbar with Dolby Atmos Technology. I am sorry to hear that you did not experience the full potential of this system. A possible cause is that the rear speakers may appear disengaged because the Soundbar may be in stereo mode (no surround effect) when playing non-Atmos content. Here are a few things you can try to improve the rear speaker performance: 1) Connect the Soundbar to a network and upgrade the Soundbar to the latest firmware version. 2) Check that Surround Mode is set to ON. 3) Different effect modes (Standard > Music > Clear voice > Sports > Movie > Night mode) affect the levels of the surround speakers. Try a different effect to compensate for the source and room acoustics. 4) Try toggling the DRC feature. Dynamic Range Control is a feature that affects the volume levels on Dolby Digital sources. 5) Depending on the mode, the level of each speaker (including the Surround speakers) can be controlled individually. For further assistance, please contact Samsung Customer Support and a representative will gladly help you. 1) Phone: 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for Soundbars) Available 8AM - 12AM EST (Mon-Fri) / 9AM - 11PM EST (Sat-Sun) 2) LiveChat or Email: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/#contact_us_for_support 3) Facebook Messenger: https://www.facebook.com/samsungsupport 4) Twitter: https://twitter.com/SamsungSupport The Samsung Home Theater & Home Audio Community is also a great resource for getting help from Samsung moderators and customers: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Home-Theater-Home-Audio/bd-p/hometheaterhomeaudio Samsung is committed to providing the best possible product experience, quality, and value, and we are always here to help with any of your questions or concerns. - Samsung Solutions

This soundbar is big, in every sense! To hear it is like you were deaf before, you can tell where every penny went. Dolby Atmos is like 3d sound and even mp3s sound superb, it makes you want to turn it up to the point where you damage your house foundations. If you are considering buying this, don't hesitate.

The unit worked normally after initial setup (and sounded fantastic) but after unplugging it temporarily to switch furniture around, the subwoofer and rear speakers have stopped working. The subwoofer and rear speakers no longer produce sound when the main unit is turned on, even though the lights on the back are solid blue indicating they are connected. I have performed the manual re-connection and factory reset steps suggested by Samsung and neither worked. Unplugging the soundbar/subwoofer/rears for an extended period of time sometimes gets everything working again, but only until the next power off/on cycle. Occasionally there are random short bursts of sound from one of the rears. I have since discovered on the Samsung Community forum that other owners have reported similar problems and there does not seem to be any fix other than to ship the unit back to Samsung to get it repaired. This is not what I expected for a speaker set at this price point. Do not recommend.

I have used the HW-N950 from day one of release and sadly I have to say that it didn't live up to my expectations. I just bought the Samsung Q9 65" TV and realised that the ATMOS feature on the soundbar cannot be accessed when coupled with the so-called premium Q9 TV. I know that some LG TVs do the job.

I've owned the N950 for one month and all the complaints and issues I've read from less-than-satisfied customers seem to be user error bc I've experienced nothing but pleasure with this system. Shows and movies encoded with Atmos or DTS:X sound incredible. Nothing will beat speakers in the ceiling but this is the next best thing. There have been several times I've been fooled or incredibly impressed with helicopters seemingly overhead or jumped at the crack of thunder from a storm. I have DirecTV and Xbox One X passing through the soundbar via Ultra High Speed HDMI (2.1) and then another new UHS HDMI running from tv to the soundbar, and although switching sources can at times be clunky, overall I'm not complaining. Small price to pay for amazing apartment theater sound. And my wireless connection to rear speakers or sub rarely turns off. I've told friends, I'm more impressed with this soundbar than my new LG C9 65" OLED, and I love that TV! In the end, and so long as you hook up connections right, you will love these speakers.

Great soundbar as far as soundbars go. My rear speakers work fine on Surround and Atmos. It does depend on the source. So unless you are watching 5.1 or higher the rear speakers aren't the loudest ( if they work at all ) but on surround listening to music they do come through a bit louder. The woofer works fine with my music and movies ( maybe I was lucky ). I Can Confirm that you do get Dolby Atmos as DD+ through the Q9FN on Amazon Prime ( Jack Ryan ). Netflix does not support Samsung TV's for Dolby Atmos, run it through a compatible device directly to the N950. I also have the new Ultra High speed HDMI 2.1 that do 48GBs, I have had no drop outs. The 5 minute auto turn off thing doesn't really bother me, it's just a matter of pressing a button on the remote. Easy set up with the Samsung Q9FN.I have the Sony UBP X800 Blu-Ray and Dolby Atmos scrolls across when playing a disc with Atmos and I watch Netflix thruogh the BR player to get Atmos. Smart mode is great for watching normal shows but can't beat the surround feeling with movies. With this Soundbar and the Q9FN 65' I never have to go to the movies again,, it's better!.

Excellent sounding soundbar with outstanding clarity on dialogue & low-volume sounds even in quiet scenes. Incredibly wide soundstage (I assume the side-firing speakers may have to do with this) that make you feel enveloped in sound. And for the best cinematic effect, play Atmos-encoded movies from iTunes (I feel that the Atoms Netflix shows leave a lot to be desired, although Lost in Space is easily one of their best - unclear if they are still working on their Atmos game) or Atmos / DTS:X trailers you can easily download from the web. Set up was a breeze, although all cords (for the bar itself, sub & surrounds) are too short & bulky (you can't thread them through speaker stands). Now it looks like I am having the same issue as other reviewers have noted, with the sound dropping out of the blue when watching content from my Apple TV 4K (This inputs to the N950 via a high speed 48Gb Belking HDMI, and the bar is connected with the supplied Samsung HDMI cable to a 2016 65" 4K HDR Samsung). Haven't had issues with sub & surrounds getting unpaired (also seems to be a common complaint), but frequently the bar seems to have a mind on its own, and keeps switching back to the ARC source, even though a Netflix show is playing on the Apple 4K TV (on the HDMI bar input). Hope these glitches can be resolved soon, so I won't have to return mine.

When I moved into my new apartment, it was important to keep things clean and simple. So, I decided to sell my old audio gear and renovate to a wireless home theater. I originally bought a former soundbar device with wireless speakers, but it didn’t do Dolby Atmos or DTS, just plain Dolby Digital. I was quite happy for awhile, but when Apple TV released the new Apple TV 4K with Dolby Atmos, I knew I had to get a new updated soundbar. So, after a lot of researching, I decided on the New Samsung harman/kardon N-950 soundbar. I owned harman/kardan receiver in the past, so I knew this soundbar would have a great solid sound to it. It took me awhile to get a good clean connection, because I didn’t realize it was important to enable the HDMI-CEC on my Samsung Smart TV, in order to get the proper “handshake” connection. I found that enabling the “Smart” setting on the soundbar, really brings the center speaker and the sound effects to life than on “Surround” or “Standard”. Although, “Surround” brings the surrounds louder on regular TV broadcasts. Listening to Dolby Atmos and Blu-Ray discs with a DTS master shows how powerful the N-950 can be. You feel like you’re watching a movie with a regular receiver connected, and not a soundbar. I found that listening to Dolby Atmos on Amazon Prime can sound just as amazing as a regular Blu-ray with DTS-X. That’s what makes the Samsung N-950 shine!

I purchased the long awaited HW-N950 sound bar as soon as it was available and I have to say I am very happy with it. It is definitely addicting and I look forward to come home to watch movies/series for an immersive sound experience. Samsung has definitely step it up with Harman/Kardon now part of the family. Dialogue/speech are crystal clear even during scene with lots of dynamic such as explosions and/or loud background music. Movies like Jurassic World definitely make you feel like you're in a theater with the up firing channels and rear speakers as well as the sub-woofer shaking the couch. Even TV series on HBO gave me goose bumps and jump from unsuspecting ghost/demonic voices that came out of nowhere. The sounds are so realistic that my dogs keep barking each time a door bell ring in a movie/TV scene. They have never done that before with my previous sound bar. Last but not least, the sound bar is able to get loud even on low settings especially at night. I had to turn the volume down below 10 while watching Jurassic World to test it out. Overall, it is the best Atmos/DTS:X sound bar out there that you'll find. There is no competitor. I definitely recommend if you want to get a real home theater experience if you're looking for a simplistic look without the hassles of running speaker wires all over your house. It is definitely an elegant system that is powerful enough to rattle your windows but so clear that you're able to hear whispers in quiet scene.

I bought this soundbar to go along with my QLED Q7. It is a mixed bag. When I first set it up, I had nothing to test out Dolby Atmos. When watching cable TV, the soundbar itself sounds good, but the subwoofer and rear speakers are almost inaudible. I literally had to put my ear to the rear speakers to hear anything (even when turned up to the max). I didn't even think that the Subwoofer was working. After a ton of research, I placed the subwoofer in the appropriate spot and finally got some bass. I watched some Netflix on 5.1 (Netflix Atmos DOES NOT WORK on Samsung TV), and things sounded better (the rear speakers are still static, but better). After days of research, I went out and got an XBOX and I stream Netflix via my XBOX and I finally have Atmos. The Soundbar and sub sound really good when using Atmos but the rear speakers are very underwhelming. Please note that I had previously bough the Bose 700 and that sounded better than this system (of course my Bose would not work well with my Samsung TV - so I returned the Bose because I love the TV). I don't understand why Samsung doesn't fix the rear speaker volume problem. The problem is well documented. Please let us increase the volume of the rear speakers, even when using Atmos, the rear speakers are just OK. When watching anything other than Atmos, the rear speakers are inaudible. If they would just fix that issue, this sound system would be great. It was also really difficult to get Atmos Content. You have to do a ton of research before you figure out ways to obtain that content (literally hours of research).

Got the N950 a few days ago. It sounds amazing. Setup is pretty straight forward. Extremely satisfied with this purchase. The subwoofer is tuned nice and low and a lot more powerful than I ever expected from an 8" woofer. The sound quality of the mids and highs is fantastic. I'm using the ARC hdmi connection from the sound bar to the TV for the video pass through and running the sony x800 UHD player to one of the hdmi inputs. To get the atmos sound mode I had to adjust the settings on the UHD 4k player (basically turning off all the sound assist features on the player, and rate to 192khz) doing this displays "dolby atmos" across the sound bar screen on media coded with atmos and disables the other sound modes. It took me a day to figure this out but it was not soundbar related as it was from the audio settings on the player itself. Tip during setup that is not really "exactly" noted in the manual: plug in the subwoofer and rear speakers, press and hold the bottom on the back of the rears and subwoofer until the slow blue flashing light. THEN plug in the sound bar and turn on, hold up on the remote for approx 5 seconds until the message is displayed on the soundbar screen. This connects ALL wireless speakers. In the beginning I had plugged in the soundbar sub and rears, turned the sound bar on, the sub was linked from turn on but the rears were not, and could not get the rears to connect doing the steps in the manual. Its not rocket science it just does not note the exact steps i outlined in the manual. So if anyone is having rear wireless connection just do the steps exactly as I noted. Hope that helps anyone struggling on setup.

Have been using this for four weeks now after finding an absolutely excellent price on Appliances Online - with free, next day delivery, crazy! The sound bar is excellent - I seriously recommend, if you care about sound quality, but like the ease of set up of a sound bar, consider this. Having genuine rear speakers makes a HUGE difference over other sound bars which “fake” surround sound. This is the real deal. The upward-firing speakers also mean Dolby Atmos content is available - and (at least in my space) it really works. In Atmos content (from AppleTV 4K), sounds come distinctly from above. It is impressive, immersive and exciting. I have read other reviews that say the subwoofer doesn’t work/is underpowered. Either they have a faulty device or they have a wrong setting or something - it works absolutely brilliantly. Full bass, shattering cinematic thumps, sounds great with music from AppleTV (although I haven’t tried Bluetooth yet, no need.) I haven’t had the guts to turn the volume up too high. Best feature? Dialogue is so clear. When the movie is frenetic and loud, spoken words are completely clear (but don’t feel “loud” - I have heard center channels that feel painful...) and most impressive is the low-volume performance, where you can have the volume turned right down and not miss a single word of dialogue. Can’t recommend this system enough. Have had no drop-outs of connection with rear speakers. Only one little quirk where streams from the Apple TV, the sound sometimes drops out if you adjust the volume within the first five or so seconds of the stream starting. No idea why, mildly annoying, but usually just restarting the stream fixes the problem.

I’ve had this for a couple weeks now and this is a great soundbar with ATMOS support. Unfortunately, limited number of inputs, and lack of “upscaling” when ATMOS input is detected cause it to fall short of an excellent recommendation. Positives: - Extremely easy to set up. Unpack, plug in, and you’re good to go. - Wireless rear (surround) and subwoofer - Smart things integration - Works with Alexa (via another alexa device and some setup) - ATMOS sounds great - “Surround” and “Smart” mode when available makes music and any audio input “full” sounding. - Side firing speakers is cool Negatives: - Lack of ATMOS content - XBox One issues: -- not triggering “auto on” (is working with Apple TV) -- cannot set to upscale audio to “surround” or “smart mode” - Something was “loose” inside the subwoofer (but it still works) - Should have more HDMI inputs (only has 2) - Expensive Unpacking and setting this up was straight forward. I liked the lack of wires (as compared to the previous setup with wires to each of the 5 speakers and subwoofer). After installing the Dolby App on my XBox One and following the directions on how to setup ATMOS with the Xbox, I watched some of the demos available in the app and the sound (and placement of sound) was absolutely amazing. When using “surround” or “smart” mode, the sound is amazing. Unfortunately, when the XBox outputs in ATMOS, the soundbar did not allow me to change the modes, this causes non ATMOS audio to sound less than “full”. I was able to connect it to Alexa and play music (Amazon) on it, however, a couple weeks into it, this feature stopped working. I could still control the soundbar (turn it on / off / switch inputs), but could not use Alexa to play Amazon music (radio stations still worked). After taking to Samsung support, I reset the soundbar and redid the setup, which fixed the issue. Connecting to it via bluetooth worked well and the sound was awesome. It is hard to justify purchasing this expensive product as there is not a whole lot of ATMOS content available and certain connected features can just randomly stop working. However, when everything works, the sound produced by this setup is amazing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all when we first got it, it was all stuffed in boxes. So at first I had my doubts. With its array of speakers, the Samsung HW-N950 stands a good chance of delivering on that. There are 18 speakers in total across the multi-box package, comprising a soundbar (with six drivers and three tweeters along the front, a side-firing speaker at each end, and two upfiring speakers); a wireless subwoofer (20cm bass unit); and two rear wireless modules (each with an upward-firing and front-facing speaker). So enay could go wrong with that many su s m tweeters. For a multi-box system, the Samsung HW-N950 is remarkably straightforward to set-up. That’s thanks to the seamless automatic connection between the bar, subwoofer and rear modules. Power them on and everything pairs up in seconds. And your house or apartment will rumble on anything you watch. It's a great system. Voices are solid. In fact, everything about the Samsung’s presentation is. And even when the soundbar is pushed to its higher volume potential.HW-N950 soundbar combines excellent Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support with a genuine 7.1.4-channel performance, thanks to a wireless subwoofer and rear speakers. Solid build quality and a decent set of features help justify the price tag, with only a lack of room equalisation and the number of HDMI ports worth criticising. Samsung has also embraced voice control using Amazon Alexa (note, it's not Bixby, as found on Samsung phones). All you need to do is setup the N950 via the Skills in the Alexa app, enable Samsung Wireless Audio, then select devices in Smart Home and discover the N950. This will enable the 3PDA skills and you can start controlling your N950 by simply using your voice. Voice control is still developing, but it does work as long as Alexa understands the nature of your command. We haven't had any trouble with Alexa connecting or using voice it's a great feature. Probably one we will see more of. HW-N950 houses all of its physical connections in a recessed section on the underside of the soundbar. Theres two HDMI ports (four would of been nice!). There's also an optical digital audio input, along with a USB port for service updates, and a connector for the two-pin power cable. If you love music like my family does ( still waiting on the n700 hint hint) then these will blow you away, TV or movies are something else with Samsung’s HW-N950 and the QLED . So in conclusion I whould recommend this to anyone out there who is looking for the best.

I've had the HW-N950 for over a month now and have had a chance to play around with it. Make no mistake; for anyone looking for an all-in-one, wireless solution, this product is probably the best available out there. It has genuine 7.1.4 surround compared to other systems which merely reflect sound to give the impression of object based effects. Naturally, ATMOS channels are reflected sound but unless you want to drill holes and place speakers in your ceilings and deal with tricky wiring, then these soundbar solutions are the best alternative. In terms of set-up; it's easy enough. You'll have to make sure you purchase high quality HDMI cables, and make sure that your input sources and media are set to delivery audio content in Dolby/DTS format/ The soundbar can only give you these amazing sound experiences if it is given the right content (you cant get colour prints if you feed your colour printer with black ink). There is one underlying issue that many users are reporting but Samsung don't seem to acknowledge. It is also one that I am experiencing. When playing anything with ATMOS content, the system really comes to life and delivers thunderous bass and rear speaker effects. I haven't quite been able to notice the ariel Atmos overhead effects (despite playing some ATMOS Bluray discs and Dolby's own ATMOS test files) but I suspect this may be down to the physical set up of my room rather than the soundbar itself - you have to have a reflective ceiling within the right height range for the sound to be reflected correctly. However, when playing anything else, such as music from a Bluetooth source, or a 5.1 or 7.1 Bluray disc, I do notice that for some reason, the subwoofer and rear speakers suddenly seem to go into rest mode and the thunderous, punchy bass I was getting with ATMOS content is reduced to about 20% power. And you will have to press your ears to the rear speakers just to be able to hear the whispered sounds coming from the rear speakers. This really shouldnt be the case in a high-end, premium priced product. My older 5.1 system doesnt turn down the bass/rear speakers. This is even more noticeable when playing music from Bluetooth for example; the rear speakers might as well be turned off (even changing to stereo sound or changing the parameters make no difference). I suspect this might be fixed in a future update but Samsung really need to do something about this - yes it could be argued that this is for movies mainly, and as said, when playing an ATMOS movie, it tears the house down - but this is also supposed to be used for other purposes and not just movies - and sadly, although it clearly is capable of punchy bass and rear sound, its performance is a little underwhelming when playing anything other than Atmos.
