Error codes play an important role in making sure your washer stays in good condition, and gives you a starting point if there are ever any troubles. Here is a list of the most common error codes and the next steps to take.

Not Filling Errors

There is an issue with the water supply. See the page on Samsung Washing Machine Won't Fill for 4E or 4C Error

Check the water supply line.

  • Check for the connection of the water line (including water taps).
  • Power off and power the machine on after 2-3 minutes, and then try again.
  • Depending on the model, the drain system may start draining water automatically. The POWER and START/PAUSE buttons may be disabled during this process.
  • Make sure the drain hose is at the correct height (between 60 and 90cm) and not obstructed with kinks.

Not Draining Errors

Water is not being drained from the machine at the correct speed - or at all.

  • Check the drain hose angle from the machine, and make sure it's not clogged by any foreign substances.

See the steps on Resolve 5E Error Code on your Samsung Washing Machine for more information.

Overflow Errors

The washing machine thinks there is too much water in the machine - it could be the sensor malfunctioning.

  • Turn the washer off and check the level.
  • Make sure the drain hose is at the correct height, without kinks or any damage.
  • Clean the debris filter if the machine is a front loader.
  • Turn the washer back on and start a cycle - if the error code doesn't clear, please get in touch to organise an assesment of the machine.

Leaking Errors

The machine is detecting water somewhere it doesn't belong.

  • Check the drain hose angle from the machine, and make sure it's not clogged by any foreign substances.
  • Check for water leaks - turn the machine off at the power point to check for leaks, and after 2 or 3 minutes, restore power and start the cycle again.
  • Some models will automatically drain for up to 3 minutes. If this happens the POWER button will be disabled. Wait for the machine to finish draining before attempting to find any leaks.

Water Temperature Errors

The water being supplied to the washer is the wrong temperature, or extremely hot.

  • Make sure the supply hoses are attached correctly - red to the hot tap and blue to the cold tap.
  • Ensure the cold water hose is tightened securely.

Excessive Suds Error

The machine has detected excessive suds and should continue the cycle after the suds have dissipated.

  • Make sure to use the correct amount of High Efficiency detergent.
  • For front loader machines, press the SPIN button until the machine starts to drain, so it will finish the cycle and unlock the door. If your model does not respond to the SPIN button, you will need to Emergency Drain the water from the machine to be able to access the load.

Unbalanced Load Error

The current load in the washer is too heavy or unbalanced in the tub.

  • For top loader machines - pause the cycle and redistribute the load, and press START to continue the cycle.
  • For front loader machines, press the SPIN button until the machine starts to drain, so it will finish the cycle and unlock the door. If your model does not respond to the SPIN button, you will need to Emergency Drain the water from the machine to be able to access the load.

Temperature Sensor Error

The machine has had interrupted power, or there is something irregular about the electrical current supplied to the machine.

  • Make sure the machine is plugged into the power point at the wall, rather than an extension cable.

Fan Motor Errors

There's an issue with the Fan motor.

Motor Errors

  • Power off the machine and leave it for 2 to 3 minutes. Restore power and restart the cycle.

Spinning Errors

The machine is not spinning at the proper speed.

  • Check that the load is distributed properly on top loading machines.
  • Ensure the machine is on a sturdy, level surface.
  • Power off the machine, wait a few minutes before restoring power. If the error code returns please get in touch to organise a service.

Main Door Errors

The door sensor recognises that the machine is running while the door is not firmly closed.

  • Turn the machine off, verify the door is securely closed and that no items are caught in the door. Restore power to the machine and restart the cycle.
  • If the code continues to appear and you're sure nothing is caught in the door - please get in touch to organise a service.

Add Door Errors

The Add Door is being detected as open or unlocked.

  • Make sure there isn't anything keeping the door from closing securely.
  • This message might also appear if you open the Add Door without pausing the cycle first. To add laundry, press the Add Door to close it properly, then press START/PAUSE to try again.
  • Turn the machine off and restart the cycle. If the code won't clear, please contact your closest service location to request an assessment.

Door Lock Errors

The door is unable to lock properly.

  • Make sure there is nothing keeping the door from closing securely.
  • Power off the machine, wait a few minutes and then restart the cycle. If the code continues, please get in touch to organise a service.

Child Lock Errors

This error message should blink at a 1 second interval with an alarm sound, while draining, to ensure children can't fall into the tub.

  • After the machine drains completely, close the door and power off the machine for a minute or two, then restore power. If the code doesn't clear please get in touch to organise a service of the machine.

Clutch Error

This error occurs when the position of the clutch can't be detected or after the position of the clutch is detected but the signal of the clutch hall goes wrong.

  • If the information code remains, contact a customer service centre.
