How do I back up to Google?

Please Note: If you do not have a Google account, click here to find out how to create one. A valid Internet connection is required to back up/restore.

What can be backed up?

- Wi-Fi passwords
- Call logs           
- App settings     
- App data          
- Photos & Videos
- Files                
 
Firstly you will need to enable the Google backup settings:

1 Go into the Settings menu > Cloud and accounts.

2 Tap on Backup and restore.

3 Toggle the switch to ensure that Back up my data and Automatic restore has been enabled.

How to back up photos and videos to Google PhotosClick to Expand

With the use of Google Photos, you can safely store your photos and videos, which can be automatically backed up. You can easily access your photos and videos, anywhere & anytime.

1 Go into the Apps menu and open Google Photos.
Open Google Photos
2 Tap on the More tab located near the top left side of the screen.
Tap on the More tab
3 Tap on Settings.
Tap on Settings
4 Tap on Backup & sync.
Tap on Backup & sync
5 Toggle the switch to enable Back up & sync.

6 Select the Google account you wish to use.

Please Note: If you only have one Google account, proceed to Step 7.

7 Your photos and videos will start syncing to Google Photos.

Please Note: Your photos will start syncing to Google Photos only when your device is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi unless you have enabled Mobile data backup.

How to back up your data to Google DriveClick to Expand
1 Go into the Apps menu and open Google Drive.
Open Google Drive
2 Tap on the Add icon located near the bottom right of the screen.
Tap on the Add icon to start uploading
3 Tap on Upload.
Tap on Upload
4 You can tap on the More tab located near the top left of the screen to specify the file type you wish to search. Otherwise you can tap on Recent to display the most recent files.
Open up the More tab to see more
5 Select a file to upload.
How to back up using Google
6 Google Drive will not proceed with uploading via Mobile data unless told to do so.

Please Note: Uploads will begin once your device has been connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. If you wish to proceed with uploading the file via Mobile data, simply tap on the arrow icon.
