Gear VR: Tips on charging

Last modified : Aug 24. 2018
Gear VR

The Gear VR doesn't require charging - it is powered by the attached mobile device. You can connect your phone charger to the port in the Gear VR; when the Gear VR is plugged in it won't use up battery life on your phone (unless in high power demand situations; the Gear VR will use power from both the phone and connected charger).

If the Gear VR is disconnected from the charger while it's being used, the image on the screen may be inactive briefly. During this period, the screen recalibrates and the Gear VR may not recognise head movements.

The Gear VR will only charge the connected device when not in use and connected to power. To save energy, always unplug the charger when it's not in use. The charger doesn't have a power switch, so you'll need to unplug it from the wall to avoid wasting power.
