Using Bixby on the Galaxy S10

Last modified : Jun 14. 2019

Bixby is a user interface that helps you use your device more conveniently. You can talk to Bixby or type text and Bixby will launch a function you request or show the information you want. It also learns your usage patterns and environments. The more it learns about you, the more precisely it will understand you.

All you'll need to do to use Bixby is create or sign into your Samsung Account on your Galaxy S10 and stay connected to either a Wi-Fi or mobile network.

Starting Bixby

When you launch Bixby for the first time, the Bixby intro page will appear. You must select the language to use with Bixby, sign in to your Samsung account according to the on-screen instructions, and then agree to the terms and conditions.

1 Press the Bixby key.
Press Bixby Button and select your preferred language
2 Select the language to use with Bixby and sign into your Samsung Account.

If you are already signed into your Samsung Account, your account information will appear on the screen.
3 Read and Agree to the Terms & Conditions
4 Follow the on-screen instructions to register your voice.

If you set the voice wake-up feature, you can start a conversation with Bixby by saying “Hi, Bixby”.
Set up voice wake-up
5 Tap the arrow key to complete the setup. You will then be redirected to the Bixby screen where you can view tutorials, suggested commands and access additional options.

Please Note: You are unable to disable the Bixby button, if you are accidentally tapping the button you can change the Bixby Key settings. Simply head into the Bixby Voice settings > enable Double press to open Bixby.

Using Bixby

When you say what you want to Bixby, Bixby will launch corresponding functions or show the information you requested. While pressing and holding the Bixby key, say what you want to Bixby, and then release your finger from the key when you are finished speaking. Alternatively, say “Hi, Bixby”, and when the device emits a sound, say what you want.

For example, while pressing and holding the Bixby key, say “How’s the weather today?” The weather information will appear on the screen. If you want to know the weather tomorrow, while pressing and holding the Bixby key, just say “Tomorrow?” Because Bixby understands the context of the conversation, it will show you tomorrow’s weather.
