Using the Gear VR with Controller

Not too sure how to use your Gear VR or just need some help connecting your compatible Galaxy smartphone, check out the below guide for more information.

  TouchPad: Tap to select an item. You can move to the next or previous item by swiping forwards or backwards.

 

 Home: Press to return to the Oculus Home screen.

 

 Back: Press to return to the previous screen or press and hold to open the Universal menu, you can view the status of the Gear VR and configure settings

 

  Focus adjustment wheel: Rotate to focus by adjusting thedistance between the mobiledevice and the Gear VR's lenses

You can connect the controller to a mobile device connected with a Gear VR via Bluetooth. Control various Gear VR features with the controller keys and touchpad.

 Home: When the controller is not connected with a Gear VR: Press and hold to enter Bluetoothpairing mode.
When the controller is connectedwith a Gear VR: Press to return to the Oculus Home screen or press and hold to reorient the controller's pointer directionwhen it is off-centre.

 

 Back: Press to return to the previous screen or press and hold to open the Universal menu, you can view the status of the Gear VR and configure settings

 

  Volume: Press to adjust the Gear VR volume.

 

  Trigger: Press to select an item or use itas a trigger when playing certaingames. Its function may varydepending on the launched apps.

Insert the ends of the straps through the strap loops on the Gear VR and use the velcro to fasten each end.

Remove the top strap by pulling its loop towards the foam cushioning. Then, remove the main strap from the Gear VR.

Replacing the device holder

By default, the USB Type C is already attached to your Gear VR however, if your device's multipurose jack is a Micro USB, you can easily replace with the Micro USB device holder.

1 Slide the lock switch to the Unlock icon position and remove the device holder from the Gear VR.
Slide the lock switch to the lock position and remove the device holder from the Gear VR.
2 Choose another device holder while the lock switch is in the Unlock iconposition and slide the device holder into the holder slot. Then lockthe holder by sliding the lock switch to the lock icon position.
Select another device holder. While the lock switch is in the unlock position, slide the device holder into the holder slot. Then, lock the holder by sliding the lock switch to the lock position.
Connecting to your Galaxy smartphone
1 Pull the device holder (right) to the right thoroughly ( one icon). Then,push the device holder (left) gently ( two icon ) and slide it to positionA or B ( THREE icon ) depending on the size of the mobile device's screenyou want to use.

2 Unlatch the device holder (left).
3 While your mobile device is on and unlocked, connect it to the device holder ( one icon ). The mobile device will then emit a sound when the Galaxy phone is connected to the Gear VR properly.

You will then need to insert the mobile into the centre of the VR and gently push your mobile until it locks into place ( two icon ). The device holder wll then returm to its previous postion and gold your Galaxy into place ( THREE icon ).

Installing the Oculus app
1 To install the required Oculus applications, ensure your Galaxy6 smartphone battery is fully charged and you are connected to a strong Wi-Fi connection
2 Connect your Gear VR and compatible Galaxy smartphone and listen to the voice instructions. When advised, remove the Phone from the VR and proceed to download the VR apps.

5 Tap on Install to download the required VR apps

6 Select Continue using Facebook or create your own Oculus account

7 Select your preferred payment type or tap on I don't have a payment method to skip this step

8 Choose to Turn on Bluetooth to pair the controller or select Skip Pairing for now.

If you select Turn on Bluetooth, follow the in-app instructions to successfully pair and calibrate your controller.

9 Once the pairing and setup is complete, you will be able to view the Oculus hompage where you can download games and view applications already stored within your Library. To start using your VR, simply reconnect your mobile and Gear VR.
