Change Picture Size on a Samsung TV

Last modified : Oct 23. 2019

Most Samsung TVs will allow several different options for changing the Picture Size. Depending on the TV and input signal, you may be able to change the Picture Size to:

  • 16:9 Standard Display the picture in widescreen aspect ratio.
  • Custom Customise the aspect ratio manually.
  • 4:3 Display the picture in Standard (low definition) aspect ratio. Suitable for VHS and standard definition broadcast.
  • Fit to Screen The full image will be displayed. No part of the image will be cut off.

Note: The availability of this function depends on the Picture Size Settings.

  • Zoom and Position Adjust the picture size and/or position.

Note: This function is only available if the Picture Size is set to Custom. To change the picture position on analogue channels, enlarge the picture first, and then change the position.

Please see the table at the bottom of the page for information on Picture Size availability depending on Input Source.

Warning: Do not watch your TV in 4:3 mode for extended periods of time. This can cause black bars to "burn in" to the screen and appear as temporary or permanent after-images on the display.

Adjusting the picture size and/or position
