How to Level the Front Load Washing Machine


• Never install the washing machine on carpet or other soft flooring surfaces.

• Leveling the washer is critical for proper operation. An un-leveled washer will cause many different problems including vibrations, odors, and detergent drawer residue issues.


• Verify the shipping bolts have been removed.

• When using a pedestal, use the instructions listed below to level your pedestal first; then attach and level the washing machine.

• Level the pedestal and washing machine in their final resting location.

Leveling the Washing Machine

To level your washing machine and adjust for vibration, follow these steps:

1. Loosen the locking nuts and screw the washer legs all the way up into the washer chassis.

2. Move the washing machine into its final resting location.

3. Try rocking the washer back and forth, and side to side. If the washer rocks, unscrew the appropriate leg so that the leg makes contact with the floor and the washer no longer rocks.

4. Place a level on the top of the washer. It does not matter if you place the level front to back or right to left first.

IMPORTANT: You must level all 4 sides.

5. Insert a small load of laundry into the washing machine and run a Spin cycle to check for excessive vibration.

6. When the machine begins to rev up to a higher RPM, adjust the height of the legs by turning the legs left or right, checking the level frequently between adjustments.


NOTE: A properly leveled surface looks like the illustration shown below.


7. Once the washer is level, tighten the locking nut on each leg to ensure that they stay in place.



• Over time, because of vibration, the locking nuts may loosen slightly and readjustments maybe needed.

• The locking nut should be flush against the bottom of your washer when fully tightened.
