The SmartThings app can connect to just about any compatible smart device - including Samsung smart fridges! Whether you have a Family Hub fridge or a smart fridge, connecting it to the SmartThings app has numerous benefits, such as letting you view the inside of the fridge, receiving notifications about your fridge's status, or getting updates to your fridge. Not only that, the SmartThings app can let you remotely control some of your fridge's functions.

Connect to a non-Family Hub smart fridge

When you connect your smart fridge to the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet, you’ll be able to control your fridge’s functions from anywhere. You can check the temperature and view the fridge’s interior if you think you’re running low on fruits or vegetables.

1 Navigate to and open the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet.
2 If this is the first time you are using the app, tap Start. Then, tap Allow all the time when prompted. This will enable the app to scan for your refrigerator.
3 Tap Add (the plus icon), and then tap Device.

4 Under the By device type tab, tap Refrigerator, and then tap Samsung.

6 Tap Start to begin adding your fridge to the app. You’ll need to select a location and room for your refrigerator. When you’re finished, tap Next.
7 Then, open your fridge's door and press the Door Alarm button. This will unlock the temperature control panel.
8 Press the Fridge button until “AP” appears on the temperature control panel's display. After a few moments, your refrigerator will appear in the SmartThings app.
9 Once it does, you can select your Wi-Fi network and enter your information if it's a secured network. Then, tap CONNECT.

10 Your refrigerator will be added to the SmartThings app. Add a name for your fridge, and then tap Done. The fridge will now appear in the SmartThings app where you can remotely control some of its features and functions, like changing the temperature.
Connect to a Family Hub smart fridge

You can connect your Family Hub fridge to the SmartThings app as well. You’ll need to begin the connection process on your phone or tablet and then continue on the Family Hub panel.

1 Navigate to and open the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet.
2 If this is the first time you are using the app, tap Start. Then, tap Allow all the time when prompted. This will enable the app to scan for your refrigerator.
3 Tap Add (the plus icon), and then tap Device.

4 Under the By device type tab, tap Refrigerator, and then tap Samsung.
5 Tap Family Hub, and then tap Start to begin the process. Choose a location and room for the Family Hub to be registered to, and then tap Next.
6 On the Family Hub panel, tap Apps, and then open Settings. Tap Connections, and then tap Easy Connection.

8 Wait as the phone or tablet searches for the fridge. If the Family Hub is already registered to an account, you may be prompted to reset it - follow the on-screen instructions on the phone or tablet to do so.
9 Next, tap OK on the Family Hub panel, and then enter the PIN displayed on your fridge into the phone or tablet.
10 On the phone or tablet, choose your desired Wi-Fi network for the Family Hub, preferably the same one the phone or tablet is using. If it is a secured network, make sure the password is correct, and then tap CONNECT.
Once it does, you can select your Wi-Fi network and enter your information if it's a secured network. Then, tap CONNECT.
11 Wait for the registration to finish, add a name for the fridge if desired, and then tap Done. The Family Hub will now appear in the SmartThings app where you can remotely control some of its features and functions, like viewing the inside of the fridge.
