What Does PAL Stand For?

PAL - Phase Alternate Line. The television and video standard in use in most of Europe, Hong Kong, and the Middle East. It has a resolution of 625 horizontal lines at a field rate of 50 fields per second. (Two fields equals one complete frame).

The television and video standard used in Canada is called NTSC. NTSC and PAL are incomcompatible. A NTSC TV will not work with PAL. A PAL TV will not work with NTSC.

All TVs that Samsung sells in Canada are NTSC compatible only. No Samsung television made for the Canadian market is compatible with PAL.
