Clear Motion Rate (CMR)


Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is a specification that was developed by Samsung to accurately measure how well a Samsung TV can depict fast-moving images and to help simplify comparing different Samsung TVs.

CMR offers a more complete measure by calculating 3 factors:

    • Frame refresh rate

    • Image processor speed

    • Backlight technology

Using CMR you can easily compare models year to year or in the same year.

For Example: If you purchased a UN50ES6500F and were thinking about updating to the UN50F6400AF and were wondering how much better the picture would be, you can use the CMR specification to compare the two.


Looking at the CMR specification you can see that both TVs have the same CMR.


Because the TV's both have the same CMR this means the picture quality between the two sets will be the same, the difference will be in the features and operation.

Now if you compare the UN55F7500AF and the UN55F8000BF you will see that the TVs have all the same features but different CMR.


If you compare the CMR of the two units, you will see that the 8000 has a higher CMR which means it has a better overall picture quality than the 7500.
