Sami Miró Vintage, the sustainable fashion brand known for creating one-of-a-kind pieces, has partnered with Samsung on a set of limited-edition, eco-friendly Galaxy Watch4 Series accessories.

With three watch faces and six watchbands, the collection is inspired by the beauty of nature and made from recycled materials. There is a deep connection between style, sustainability and mindfulness, says founder and designer Sami Miró.

"The designs were inspired by the beauty of our planet and are intended to serve as a reminder to stay mindful and connected to the earth.”

Portrait of innovation

Utilizing lines, shapes and a celestial-toned color palette to depict the ebb and flow of movement, Sami’s designs juxtapose the beauty of nature with the beauty of technology.
“The inspiration behind the collection was to create designs that evoke positive energy and emotion for the person who really wants to be good to the planet and themselves,” she said.

The collection, which includes three watch faces and six watchbands made from apple peels and other post-consumer waste, is designed to convey the liberty of individual sartorial expression using a flower roots, leaves and vines motif. The designs remind us that we are one with the earth and all life.

Made from apple peel skin, the Stratus and Midnight watchbands can easily be worn with a neutral Boho lip or a sultry smoky eye to work or out to play. On the other hand, the gem hues of the rubber-like TPU watchbands – available in Aurora Night, Dawn Atlas, Cloud Navy, and Earth Sunrise – are the perfect pops of color to complement a gold shimmering highlight on the cheekbones or any outfit. These interchangeable watchbands complement any look, from day to night.

“Your watch is something you wear each day,” says Sami. “What I love about the series is that they look very sleek and sophisticated, they blend seamlessly into every outfit.” The Galaxy Watch4 Classic is her personal favorite. Her Atlas and Serenity watch faces keep connectedness and tranquility at the top of mind. Sami's designs exemplify how fashion unites the themes and values we care about with style, so that each of use can participate in acts of personal expression.

“Caring for the planet is one of the most important things we should all be doing right now, and my mission is to educate people who love style about how they can make more sustainable fashion choices.”

Creating a sustainable future

For a company that aims to include environmental sustainability into everything that we do — from product design to packaging, energy-saving to recycling — Samsung’s collaboration with Sami Miró is a natural fit.

Sami made a name for herself by creating unique fashion pieces from up-cycled materials. She is also the designer behind Selena Gomez’s iconic Revival world tour wardrobe and Kylie Jenner’s viral cream-colored sweatsuit. Her ethos is built on the principles of consuming and creating fashion with purpose and intention. As a result of her efforts, she was awarded the 2021 Fashion Trust grant by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Like Samsung’s SolarCell Remote, which is made from 24% recycled plastics, all six of the Galaxy Watch4 Series x Sami Miró Vintage watch bands put sustainability first.

Aurora Night, Dawn Earth Sunrise Atlas and Cloud Navy watchbands are made from recycled materials, while Midnight and Stratus Sky are made from a bio-based leather alternative called AppleSkinTM

“What I love about the watch bands is that they’re made out of recycled apple peel and other sustainable materials,” says Sami. “My goal with this collection is to educate people about the innovations in sustainability happening. We can all be mindful about the fabrics we buy.”

AppleSkinTM is an attractive, versatile and high-performing vegan “leather” that uses upcycled waste. It’s made in part with materials recovered from the fruit industry. Composed of approximately 20% to 30% apple, it’s completely vegan and cruelty-free.

The thoughtful process behind creating these eco-friendly watch bands means that there is no chemical residue in the final products. They are non-toxic and non-plasticized. Plus, they can easily be recycled when the time comes.

Your style. Your health. This watch gets you.

Beyond its sustainability benefits, Sami connected with the Watch4 and Watch4 Classic models stylistically. Though they are bold pieces, they can work with a range of outfits. “I’ve always loved smaller watches and I get a perfect fit,” says Sami. The collaboration marks an ideal confluence of where fashion meets function.

“My lifestyle is so on the go. It’s very work-oriented and wellness-minded.”

“I love that it reminds me to stay active and stay on top of wellness goals,” says Sami. “I can stay connected to the holistic health features, specifically for meditation via the Calm app.”

Sami values daily meditation and savors the Galaxy Watch4's Calm feature. Many studies suggest mindfulness can improve your overall wellbeing. Samsung also partnered with Calm, an app developer, to make your watch a meditation coach. Tap the Mindfulness icon in the Samsung Health app to turn on your personal meditation guru.

"When I think of mindfulness, it really means doing everything not really as a habit, but with intention."
