What can be transferred with Smart Switch?

How do I transfer my photos?
The Smart Switch app supports transfer of photos from your iPhone to Samsung. The photos may sometimes be in a different order than your previous device due to downloading speed.

What settings will be transferred?
The Smart Switch app supports transferring device settings, including alarms, Wi-Fi, and other system preferences. However, it does not transfer app-specific data or settings, so if an app requires a login or specific configuration, you may need to set it up again on your new device.

How do I transfer my passwords?
1. Export Passwords from iPhone:
• On your Mac, click the Apple logo in the top left corner and select System Settings.
• Ensure you are logged into the same iCloud account as your iPhone.
• Click on the Passwords option in the sidebar.
• Enter your Mac's password to access the passwords.
• Select the passwords you want to export, click the three-dot menu icon, and choose Export All Passwords.
• Confirm the export and save the CSV file to your desktop.
2. Import Passwords to Google Account:
• On your Samsung device, log into the Google account that you used to set up your Android phone.
• Go to myaccount.google.com and click on the Security tab.
• Scroll down to the Password Manager section and click on it.
• Click the Settings cogwheel at the top right and select Import from the Password Options.
• Choose the CSV file you exported from your Mac and upload it.
If you do not have a Mac, you must use a neutral password manager app and use the following steps:
1. Export Passwords: Open the password manager on your iPhone, log in, and look for an option to export your passwords. Follow the app-specific instructions to export them as a file.
2. Transfer the File: Use email, cloud storage, or direct transfer to move the exported file to your Samsung device.
3. Import Passwords: Open the password manager on your Samsung device, navigate to the import option, and select the file you transferred. -
How do I transfer Whatsapp?
You can transfer your WhatsApp data from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy phone. The data that can be transferred includes your account information, profile photo, individual chats, group chats, chat history, media and settings. Follow this guide to find out how you can easily migrate your WhatsApp data.
You cannot transfer your call history, display name or peer to peer payment messages.
Requirements
Firstly, you will require the following in order to migrate your WhatsApp data:
Samsung SmartSwitch app version 3.7.22.1 or greater installed on your new device
WhatsApp iOS version 2.21.160.17 or greater on your old device
WhatsApp Android version 2.21.16.20 or greater on your new device
Your new Samsung phone must be operating on Android version 10 and above
USB-C to Lightning cable (or equivalent adapters)
Use the same phone number on the new device as the old device.
Your new Samsung phone must be factory new or reset to factory settings.
Your new Samsung phone should have storage space that is at least equal to or more than the total storage space currently being used in your iPhone regardless of the exact data you are transferring.
Step 1. From your Samsung phone's Home screen, go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Bring data from old device.
Step 2. You will be asked ""What should this phone do?"". Select Receive data.
Step 3. Under Select a source, select iPhone/iPad.
Step 4. Connect by cable to your iPhone when prompted (your phone must be turned on).
Step 5. On your iPhone, tap ""Trust"" on the pop-up. Then tap Next on your Samsung.
Step 6. Select the data you wish to transfer, including ""Data from iPhone apps"" and tap Transfer. (You might be prompted to install WhatsApp if you do not already have it installed).
Step 7. When prompted, scan the QR code shown on your Galaxy phone using the iPhone’s camera.
Step 8. Tap Start on your iPhone and wait for the process to complete.
Step 9. Continue with the setup of your Galaxy phone.
Step 10. When you reach the home screen, open WhatsApp and log in using the same phone number used on your iPhone.
Step 11. Tap Start to import your data when prompted, and allow the process to complete.
Step 12. Your WhatsApp data should be imported successfully. -
I use specific apps. Are there Android alternatives?
The Google Play Store and the Apple App Store are two separate sites and have a different selection of games and apps. If you are transferring from an iOS device, Smart Switch will try to download an Android alternative to your apps. If there isn't an Android alternative it won't be transferred.

How can I copy all my iCloud data across?
The Smart Switch app will allow transfer of iCloud data aside from the items below. You will be prompted to sign in to your iCloud account during the Smart Switch process and select which items you wish to transfer.

How do I move my iTunes music?
The Smart Switch app will not transfer purchased music like iTunes. You will need to do a manual transfer by following these steps:
Locate your Music files on your computer by:
1. Opening iTunes on your computer.
2. Going to “Preferences” (on a Mac) or “Edit” > “Preferences” (Windows)
3. Under the “Advanced” tab, note the “iTunes Media folder location.”
Connect your Samsung Phone to your computer using a USB cable. You might be promoted to choose “File Transfer” or “Media Transfer Protocol (MTP)” on your phone here.
Transfer your music files by:
1. Opening Windows File Explorer or Finder (on Mac) and navigating to the folder containing your iTunes music.
2. Selecting the songs (or folders) you wish to transfer.
3. Copying them (right-click and select “Copy” or use Ctrl+C).
4. Locating your Samsung phone in the File Explorer or Finder.
5. Opening the “Music” folder on your Samsung device.
6. Pasting the copied files (right-click and select “Paste” or use Ctrl+V).
Remember to eject your phone safely before unplugging it. -
Is there anything that can’t be transferred?
•Game App Data (including in-app purchases)
•Purchased music or videos
•Saved Passwords
•Application Data: Data stored within apps (e.g., WhatsApp)
•In order to transfer these items, you must back them up before the Smart Switch process and transfer each separately. -
How long will it take to complete the switch?
In general, expect around 2 to 5 minutes for every 1GB of data transferred using Smart Switch.
