My Mom bought this for me as a gift for my 2nd year at university after I had been talking about changing my original projector for something more comfortable and easier to travel with and use. So far I've used it everyday and heavily reliant on it due to the inability of being able to put a tv in my accomodation due to space and size.
I previously owned a 70£ or 80£ projector off amazon and it was great for its quality - and got it due to space issues within my room at home and essentially got rid of my tv. However, this projector did require me to constantly have it connected to my laptop for use, and for me to manually alter the keystone and focus (which were slider wheels directly above one another so occasionally got stuck together)
But this projector now, does not require me to have to plug my laptop in or anything. Everything comes pre-installed which is great and such a time saver which allows me to have a show on in the background while still being able to use my laptop for University work.
There have been some issues, however, none that have proven for the projector to be unusuable. Some problem's I've come across is typically the cloud gaming - you would best find luck playing games that do not require fasts fps. For myself, I don't generally use this function a lot, maybe sometimes when I take the projector home which then makes the gaming feature quite useless despite me having a good internet connection back home. However, at usually where the wifi isnt all that great most of the time, I just easily connect it to my Xbox and we're all good to go. Another issue I've come across is the keystone feature - it's not exactly perfect and when taking it home I project it onto the ceiling and sometimes it comes a bit wonky due to having it placed at a bit of an angle, which is reasonable. However, when projecting it back onto a wall some times I have to manually correct due to the auto keystone not detecting it at times. One other issue I've come across is getting the Alexa or even the Bixby voice assistant to work correctly, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Usually when I try to use it, it takes me to the app rendering me to not ever use this feature - I wouldn't outright say that it doesn't work because I've clearly got the Bixby working most of the time and it could just come down to me not setting it up correctly. Finally, the last one I've come across is the focus feature - yes it is easy to use, but when I turn the projector on after coming back from lectures, the image tends to be slightly out of focus 6/10 times after not having moved it from its original spot, I don't necessarily mind this happening as it helps me spot out of focused images within video footage for the Uni course I am doing. But considering the price of the projector, this would typically need to be improved.
Portability wise is such a massive improvement from my previous projector, I am able to simply put it into my bag and just go home when I can. With my previous projector which is a little bigger in width and a lot flatter compared to the Samsung 2nd Gen, I was not able to fit it into my bag without feeling like a massive weight was pulling down on my shoulders (especially with my laptop in the same space).
The durability of the product is okay, I have dropped it a couple times due to accidentally knocking it over but it has managed to come out unscathed - though I will always be weary about dropping or knocking it due to the price of it.
I was quite lucky that my University has curtains that seemingly block out a lot of light but some does tend to seep through - however, not enough for it hinder the brightness of the image the projector provides. Though back home, I have quite light coloured curtains which does barely anything to hold back the light and for me the brightness of the projector does not affect me all that much as I don't really mind and know the effects daylight and any light has on projectors. But once it's dark, the projector works like an absolute gem, so I best recommend to use it in low light rooms and particularly away from the window or at least have some kind of dark fabricated curtains.
I first used the projector on the walls of my home and uni accomodation and the output of the screen was decent but could've been better, but I can't really say much about that - I was projecting onto a wall. But I was able to get my hands on a projector screen that had come in my previous projectors package and I could not be happier with the outcome. It is truly great.
In conclusion, I love this projector and so does my friends and family - it was great for the occasional movie night. I'm planning on getting my dad one for christmas with the help from my mom, along with the battery (which unfortunately comes separately at around 200£) and a case for it due to him having to travel constantly for work and not having access to a tv most of the time. So this is going to be really great for his wind down times at the end of the day.
I am giving it 5 stars due to my enjoyment of it and how often I use it, which is every day. Some of the issues I have outlined would tempt people to give it 3 or 4 stars but I absolutely love this projector with everything it entails, especially with the price being quite cheap compared to other projectors I have researched. However, the price would still be out of range for most people - especially those in University like me, so I was quite lucky to recieve this as a gift from my mom.
