How to add my Samsung Soundbar to the SmartThings app?

The Samsung Soundbar allows you to enjoy content such as movies and games with rich and vivid sound. Add your soundbar to the SmartThings app now.

Wouldn't it be convenient if you could control the soundbar in your living room from your bedroom or kitchen? By registering your device in the SmartThings app, you can use your phone to turn the soundbar on and off as well as adjust the volume and change the sound mode. You can also very easily and quickly connect with other devices such as TVs and Bluetooth headphones registered on the same app.

Ensure the connection requirements are met

Before connecting your mobile device to your Soundbar, ensure that the following requirements have been met first.

Check your mobile device's operating system

  • The SmartThings app is compatible with phones running Android 6.0 or higher as well as iOS 10.0 or higher.

Connect your mobile device to the same network

  • Each device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • On your smartphone: Tap Settings > Connection > Wi-Fi > Select a router to connect to.

Install the SmartThings app

  • Download and install the SmartThings app from the app store.
  • To find the app, use the keyword SmartThings.

Set up your Samsung Account

  • You must sign into a Samsung Account before using the SmartThings app.
  • The smartphone and Samsung Soundbar need to be logged into the same Samsung Account to pair.
  • If you have a Samsung smartphone, you can add your Samsung Account in the setting app of your smartphone. Then, it will automatically sign into your Samsung Account.

When you activate the SmartThings app on your mobile device, it will automatically detect a nearby Samsung Soundbar and show a registration pop-up window.

Step 1. Turn on the Samsung Soundbar and launch the SmartThings app.

Step 2. When the pop-up appears, tap Add Now.

Step 3. Tap Start.

Step 4. Select Location and Room for your Samsung Soundbar. Wait until the registration process is completed.

If the SmartThings app on your mobile device cannot detect your Samsung Soundbar automatically, you can manually register your Samsung Soundbar on the app.

Step 8. Wait until the Samsung Soundbar is registered with your Samsung Account.

Note: 

  • If you are having trouble with your Samsung Soundbar, you should always check to see if there are any software updates available. Downloading the latest update may fix for your problem.
  • Device screenshots and menus may vary depending on the device model and software version.
