How to use Weather Wallpaper
Weather Wallpaper (or Photo Ambient Wallpaper on older devices) is a Galaxy AI feature that adds 3D animated weather effects to still-life photos used as lock screens. The weather effects mirror your local weather, so for example if it is raining outside, an animation of rainfall will be applied to the lock screen image.
Please note: The wallpaper works with the following combinations:
- 4 time types: Morning, Noon, Evening, Night.
- 4 weather types: Sunny, Rainy, Snowy, Fog.
How to change real time weather wallpaper
Photos stored in the Gallery app can be set as a wallpaper with weather effects.
Please note: Location services must be enabled in Settings > Location for this feature to work.
1. Touch and hold the background on your Home screen
2. Tap Wallpaper and style
3. Tap Change wallpapers
4. Tap Photo ambient or Weather (Depending on One UI version installed)
*If a pop-up appears to enable the local weather, tap Agree.
5. Tap Try now
6. Select a photo for your background
7. You will see various previews* of the weather wallpaper animation, and you can adjust the photo’s position on the screen
*Available effects may vary based on the mood of your photo.
8. Tap Done to apply the animated effects

- Only some weather conditions are reflected.
- Time of day changes don’t always show current conditions precisely, and results may take time to appear.
