Series 5+ 9kg Auto Dose Washing Machine WW90T534DAW

I received this washing machine from Samsung for product testing purposes. First Impressions – The model I choose was in Graphite Grey – the front was very minimal with one large chrome dial and an LCD display. There are a series of buttons that are discrete dimples under the LCD panel. Maybe it was my poorly lite laundry room, but the labels could be hard to see – but as I found out later you are unlikely to use these with the smart app being so useful. The front-loading door felt extremely large and made access to the drum simple and once closed allowed for easy viewing of the wash if needed. Initial Setup – The guide explains you would do best to install the Samsung SmartThings app on your device, I already had this as I own a Samsung phone but understand from the instructions the app can be installed on any android or iOS device. When you turn on the washing machine for the first time, the screen shows the initial setup process. It was extremely easy to follow and within a short time the Washing Machine and my phone were connected. The machine then ran an automatic calibration process, and I was then advised I could then use the machine. I was keen to get started – but soon realised that I needed to set up the automatic dispenser for the detergent and fabric conditioner. As I currently use detergent capsules, I was only able to use the fabric conditioner dispenser. It was amazingly simple there are 2 clearly labelled caps each sealing 2 surprisingly large tanks. I filled the fabric conditioner up to the max line. In the app I set the machine to not attempt to use the detergent tank for now – however I have found the automatic softener dispenser a real improvement and now cant wait to finish my supply of capsules so I can move to the liquid detergent the machine uses. First Use – Having now set up the machine I was ready for my first wash, I opted to use the app as I thought that would be the easiest way and it was. With SmartThings opened; I clicked on the washing machine, and from here choose “Laundry Recipe” option. The app presents with a picture menu of popular washing items, from Jean, shirts, socks and underwear to the not so regular items such as Waterproofs or curtains. You click next and have the choice to advise if the items are heavily, normal or lightly soiled and if they are whites, colours or mixed. Next after this choice your final screen presents itself – advising the type of wash recommended. Send to the machine and press start. Less than a minute from starting the app to starting the wash – amazingly simple. Whilst in use the machine and the app update – both display what the machine is currently doing but more importantly how long is left on the programme. At the end of the wash the machine plays a triumphant melody – you can turn this off – but so far it has been quite nice to hear. Performance – I have now done about 8 washes since having the machine. Only one wash has come out disappointing – they were some clothes I wore rambling and were extremely muddy. With hindsight I should have choose heavily soiled but forgot quite how muddy the clothes were as I had worn them at the start of my holiday a few days earlier, but I think with the right setting one wash would have sufficed. Which leads me to why this machine will be so good for me. I do not consider myself to be big on saving the planet or as my partner would want concerned about reducing the household bills – I think about both but that’s where it normally ends – just a thought – but with the recipe I am noticing that all my washes are using lower temperatures and more economical cycles than when I use to manually set my old machine going and despite these greener settings I can honestly say the clothes are coming out smelling fresher and just as clean if not cleaner. I am sure without the unnecessary hotter washes and my extra doses of conditioner I use to use the clothes should last longer and my energy bills will be less with this machine. Ease of use – I think the app is the easiest way to set the machine going, but I was concerned what if my app broke or heaven forbid my phone did! Could I still use the machine? So, on one wash I decided not to use the app. I am pleased to say that it was easy. You use the dial on the front to move through the various wash options, and then using the dimple buttons beneath the LCD display you can adjust the rinses, temperature etc. But to my surprise the app is not just a gimmick and is indeed a big step forward, the recipe option has proved to be a nice touch and my partner who never used the previous machine has managed to use this machine all thanks to the app! Final Conclusion – At the end of the day this is a Washing Machine or that’s what I thought – but what Samsung have done is to add nice touches that means using the everyday appliance is not only simple and quick it’s also enjoyable. Most importantly the cleaning results are amazing, but for me the Automatic dispenser and the clever app (Both of which I was a little sceptical about having quickly become a must have. (I liken it to when I bought my first car with reversing sensors and will never go back to a car without them) The machine is solid and well built; has even more features that I have not had chance to use or test (for example I cannot wait to try Hygiene Steam soon!) all I can say is I would thoroughly recommend this Samsung Washing Machine.

I received this washing machine from Samsung for product testing purposes. Our previous washing machine was also a Samsung and was very good, but this one is even more impressive. It is remarkably quiet. In the programme list there is a “silent” wash, but given how quiet it is on a normal wash, I can’t see this being necessary. We’ve washed several loads of normal clothes or towels and all have come out as clean and fresh as I have come to expect with a Samsung washing machine. We’ve yet to try some of the other programmes, such as hygiene steam or drum clean, but I look forward to doing so in the future. One new feature which I particularly like is the Auto Dose feature. We had already switched to liquid detergent and the ability to load up the dispensers with detergent and fabric softener and leave the machine to figure out what it needs each time is fantastic. It’s less fiddly and I’m sure it will be more efficient and therefore more economic and more environmentally friendly. Being set in our ways, we initially manually set it, which is very easy, using the dial to select the washing programme. My only niggle was that if you don’t press the start button for a couple of seconds and just quickly press it, it remains on hold, which caught both me and my husband out first-time round. We then decided to try using the app and found it pleasantly easy to set up and use. The app quickly found the washing machine and took you through the steps where you choose the types of things you are washing and level of soiling, so that it can recommend a washing programme, which it then sends to the washing machine. We’ll have to see which method (manual or using the app) we prefer over time, but both are very easy to use. Apart from the initial hiccup in pressing the start button, I only have a couple of other niggles: - The dial for choosing the programme is very clear, but the power button and start button on the machine are very faint and could be hard to see in low light. It would be good if they were more visible. - machine does not have the manual door catch that our previous one did, so it can be quite hard to pull open. Overall, I am very impressed with this washing machine. It continues the high standard of wash quality with added features that I find very useful. As I said earlier, it is remarkably quiet and I believe it will be even more energy efficient and environmentally friendly than our previous machine.

I received this washing machine from Samsung for product testing purposes. We are very pleased with this washing machine. It is a substantial improvment over our old one. It runs very quietly and cleans brilliantly. It looks sleek and stylish and fits in well with our kitchen. The minimalist display and smartphone link work brilliantly and it has encouraged us to actually use the appropraite washing cycles instead of the previous 2 settings that we used. It is very economical and the self cleaning features bring a lot of reasssurance over the long term use of the machine. It can take a family sized washing load without problems and the automated dispensers for fabric softner and detergent are a good time saver and make sure we are not overusing product. Finally power on and end cycles are accompanied by a cheerful tune to help take the drudgery out of washing.

I received this washing machine from Samsung for product testing purposes. This machine continues to provide the same good quality wash that I have come to expect from Samsung. But this one has some new features that take it to the next level. Using the app to find the optimal washing programme is easy to use and ensures that you are getting the best possible wash that is also the most economical. And the auto dose dispensers add to the ease of use and the economical/environmentally friendly aspects of the machine. This is a great washing machine where the new features actually make a real difference.

We bought this brand new and within the first month it was leaking from the door. We noticed clothes were getting caught between the door and the seal whilst they were washing. Samsung have not helped at all. We have sent photos as requested when it happens. They now require videos of it leaking like we haven’t got anything better to do like be at work! The washer is less than 3 months old now and from week 3 we have had nothing but hassle with it. Do not waste you’re money on this item and don’t bother trying to get help through Samsung on it as you will just be pushed away! I have never had any issue with any other washer owned, nothing but issues with the one!

I bought this machine a week ago after looking everywhere for my new machine, I was not disappointed, delivery was quick and it was installed very fast and it is super easy to use, the smart things app to use is very fun to use, and it recommend what wash to use based on what i need washing. Best purchase so far!

The main issue with auto dosing is that the dosing drawer gets mouldy very quickly. I either leave it open (spoiling the look of the machine) or take it out completely to air the machine and the drawer. This is really disappointing. Also, like other, the auto dosing is erratic and we have had washing loads which come out smelling like they have not had any detergent on them. The actual programmes are OK and it is quiet and spins well, cloudy day being a good cycle. But would I buy another self dosing machine - NO. The reason it uses less detergent is that sometimes it doesn't put any detergent in the machine!

3 faults in less than 2 years and Samsung refused to honor their warranty claims. We used the machine for normal family loads and it developed 3 faults. 2 were related to the dosing drawer while the third was a seal which was damaging clothes. Samsung visited but refused to repair the machine unless we paid for one of the repairs, the price they quoted for that repair was most of the cost of a new machine. Very disappointed in Samsung laundry products. We had a pair of machines before this one and one of those broke within 2 years as well. We thought the warranty would protect us on this machine, we were wrong.
