What are serial, model and IMEI numbers?
All of these numbers are used to identify a product; however, each serves a slightly different purpose.
Model Number: This number is used to differentiate between models in a company’s line of devices or appliances. Many devices or appliances can share a model number, indicating they are the same model.
Serial number: Often abbreviated to S/N, this number is a unique hardware identification number chosen by a company and given to each device or appliance produced. The number is used to match a product to its customer, so that the company has a record of possession. This number is only used by the original producer of the product.
IMEI number: The IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is used to distinguish a mobile phone across all companies worldwide. The number can be used to identify and track a device that might be stolen or compromised.
Select product category and product type:
To find the model and serial number for your device, select Settings > About phone.
To find the model and serial number for your device, select Settings > About tablet.

Side by Side Refrigerator:
- The model and serial number are located on the bottom left side of the refrigerator's exterior.
- They can also be found on the left side of the right compartment inside the refrigerator.
Front load Washing Machines & Dryers:
- The model and serial number are located on the front panel, behind the door. To see them, open the front door and check the panel area near the drum opening. They are usually located on the bottom.
- For newer models, A QR code is located on the front panel for SmartThings set up with the model & serial on the same sticker. The model and serial number can also be located through the SmartThings app.
- All Front load Washing Machines & Dryers have the model and serial number on rating plate on the rear of the product.
The model and serial number are located on the inside left-hand side of the door.
Multi type
- The model and serial number are located on the bottom side of the indoor unit.
- They can also be found on the right side of the outdoor unit.
Wall mount
- The model and serial number are located on the bottom side of the indoor unit.
- They can also be found on the right side of the outdoor unit.
- The model and serial number are located on the outside of the Air Dresser, on the left side.
- They can also be found on the bottom right-hand-side of the Air Dresser's interior.
Cylinder Shape
- The model and serial number are located on the underside of the vacuum.
Robotic
- The model and serial number are located on the bottom of the vacuum.
Upright Shape
- The model and serial number are located on the underside of the vacuum.
- The model and serial number are located on the top right-hand side of the front panel inside the oven.
- They can also be found on the bottom right-hand side of the oven’s interior.
The model and serial number are located on the back of the microwave.
The model and serial number are located on the bottom right corner of the Cook top.
The model and serial number are located on the top right of the lower part of the Cooker Hood.
The model and serial number are located on the back/bottom of your Galaxy Book.
