How to activate SOS messages on your Samsung Galaxy Devices

Galaxy smartphones and smart watches have an SOS messages features, that allows you to reach out for help if you find yourself in a situation where you do not feel safe and need to raise an emergency alert.

The SOS messages feature allows you to auto-call and message up to four designated contacts without having to dial them.

Once set up, you can raise an alert by clicking your lock button three times. This automatically sends an SOS message and a Google map link of your location to your designated contacts. The feature also shares pictures from both the front and rear cameras of your smartphone, as well as a five-second audio recording.

 

Follow the steps below to activate Samsung Galaxy SOS messages.

Please note: this feature is only available on Samsung Galaxy smartphone running on Android Nougat software and onwards

1 Open the Settings app
2 Tap Advanced features
3 Tap Send SOS messages
4 Tap the Switch to turn SOS messages on
5 If this is the first time you've have enabled SOS messages you will have to tap Start to accept the necessary permissions
6 Tap Add to select the recipient of your SOS message
7 You can choose to create a contact or select an existing contact to receive the SOS message. In this example we will Select from Contacts
8 Tap on each contact you want to receive the emergency message. You can select up to four contacts
9 Tap Done to confirm

Once activated you can raise an alert by pressing the lock button on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone three times. This will automatically send an SOS message and a link to your location.

Please note: this feature is only available on Samsung Galaxy smart watched running on Tizen 5.5 software and onwards

1 Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected mobile device
2 Tap Send SOSes
3 Tap the switch to turn the feature on
4 If this is your first time activating this feature you will need to read and Agree to the terms and conditions
5 Tap Add to select the recipient of your SOS message
6 You can choose to create a contact or select an existing contact to receive the SOS message. In this example we will Select from Contacts
7 Tap on the contact you want to receive the emergency message
8 Tap Add
9 If you would like the option to cancel the SOS message if it's been activated accidentally, tap Count down before sending. This will give you five seconds to cancel the SOS message before it is sent

Once activated, you can raise an alert by pressing the home button on your Samsung Galaxy smart watch three times. This will automatically send an SOS message, followed by a link to your location.
