How to connect a Soundbar to the TV via a Wi-Fi network

There are several ways to connect a Samsung soundbar with each having its own benefit.

If you would like to connect your Samsung WiFi enabled Soundbar to your Samsung WiFi enabled TV they must be connected not only to the same WiFi Network but the same WiFi Frequency (2.4GHz or 5GHz)

Benefits of using Wi-Fi over Bluetooth

Check before connecting the soundbar

There are three things to check before you try to connect your Samsung soundbar to your TV by Wi-Fi.

Check before connecting the soundbar
1 Ensure that your TV model was released after 2013. This feature is available only for models after 2013
2 Ensure that your TV is connected to a working Wi-Fi network
3 Ensure that your TV and Soundbar are connected to the same wireless router/frequency (2.4GHz or 5GHz)

Note:

  • The SmartThings app is supported from the 2017 Soundbar, and older models are supported only by using the Multiroom app.
  • Wi-Fi using the DFS channel cannot connect the TV and soundbar. For assistance with DFS channels please speak to the provider of your WiFi Router.
  • Ensure you are using the same Frequency WiFi as the TV is connected to. If the 2.4GHz & 5GHz frequencies are combined, please speak to the provider of your WiFi router for assistance.

Connecting the TV & Soundbar together using WiFi

After connecting your Soundbar & TV to the Same WiFi Network & Frequency, select the Soundbar WiFi connection from the TV Sound Menu.

The TV will create a WiFi Access Point using its WiFi Card & the Soundbar will connect directly to it. The sound does not go via the WiFi Router.

Note:

The connection between the TV & Soundbar is direct using WiFi. Modern homes can be subject to a large number of WiFi & Bluetooth Networks with very high traffic volumes. This can create interference with the connection between the TV & the Soundbar. If you experience drop outs or other types of interference using the WiFi connection you may need to make changes to the output of your router (Your router provider or manufacturer can help with this) or move other Network Enabled devices further away.

We cannot guarantee a seamless connection.

If you find you cannot establish a trouble free connection, then use one of the other available methods such as HDMI –(e)ARC.
