What is Link to Windows?

Link to Windows takes everything that you can do on your smartphone and brings it to convenience and familiarity of your PC. Using the Your Phone app, you can send texts, see recent photos, triage notifications, and use any of your favourite mobile apps - all without ever having to take your phone out of your pocket.

 

First, make sure that both your mobile device and the computer are logged in to the same Microsoft account. Then, read on to find out how to set up Link to Windows.

Feature limits

Photos

Check up to 2000 recent photos in Gallery on your PC. You can open the Photos app and use the suite of editing tools. You can also drag and drop photos from your phone to your PC or share them with your contacts.

You cannot modify or delete the original file.

Messages

Receive your message notifications directly through your PC. Your Phone supports MMS images and the Windows emoji picker.


You can see up to 1000 of your most recent messages or those from the last 30 days. You cannot delete the messages on your phone.

Notifications

Check and dismiss all of your app notifications on your PC screen, giving you the power to leave your phone alone while you work. You can also click on the notification to launch the app.

Launching apps from a notification and replying to notifications is only available with compatible apps.

Screen mirroring

Mirror your phone's screen on your PC to enjoy all of the content from your app or play your phone games on your PC screen using a keyboard and mouse for extra precision.

This feature is only available on select devices.

Drag and drop

Copy and paste up to 100 files at once using the drag and drop feature. You can drag and drop any type of file.

You cannot drag and drop folders, only individual files. No single file that you are transferring can be larger than 512MB.

Calls

Make and receive calls from your phone using Bluetooth. You can check your call log directly through your PC.

You can only use this feature when your PC is connected to your phone using Bluetooth.

Mobile device requirements: Your device must be running Android 7.0 or later.

 

PC requirements: Your PC must be running Windows 10 with the Windows 10 May 2019 update.

1 Download the Your Phone app on your smartphone and PC.

The Your Phone app is preinstalled on devices released from the Note10 onwards. If your phone is older than this, you can download the app from the Play Store.

 

To download the app on your PC, go to the Microsoft Store, search for Your Phone, then click Get.

2 Open the Your Phone app on your PC. You may be prompted to sign into your Microsoft Account. Click Android, then click Continue

3 A QR code will appear on your PC screen
4 Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the quick panel, then tap on Link to Windows

If you can't find Link to Windows in your quick panel, open the Your Phone app.

Using Your Phone and compatible devices, you can view your phone screen as a separate window on your PC. This provides full interaction with your Android phone apps from your PC. 

 

To make life even easier, you can control your phone using keyboard and mouse input. You can even save your most used apps as shortcuts on the start menu and the task bar.

 

To get started, click the Phone screen tab on the Your Phone app for PC. 

Please note: this feature is currently only available on the Note20 and Note20 Ultra.

You can now make and receive calls, and sync your call history to your PC, when you pair with your phone using Bluetooth.

To use calls in the Your Phone app you need:

  • to have installed the Windows 10 May 2019 Update on your PC
  • a PC with Bluetooth support
  • an Android phone running Android 7.0 or higher
1 Open the Your Phone app on your PC and select Calls
2 Tap Get Started
3 Follow the instructions on your PC
4 A notification will appear on your phone. Tap Allow

Please note: if you choose not to set up calls during the app setup, you can turn it on later through the Your Phone settings.

To do this, open the Your Phone app, go to Settings, and under Calls, tap the switch to Allow this app to make and manage calls from my phone.
