Rated 5 out of 5 by from Both a blessing and a curse I have now had my alpha for 3 or 4 years. Its still going strong, and is the best mobile phone i have owned up to this point. But that is also where the problem starts - there just isn't anything on the market, let alone from Samsung, that i would swap it with, let alone pay the large purchase price to buy. My previous phone was a galaxy s3 (after an s2 and an s) - a phone that was good, but ALWAYS annoyed me because i had to constantly shuffle it around my hand to use it. It was just TOO BIG. Yet when i look at the market now, that s3 would be considered quite a small phone, and there is nothing....... NOTHING!! on the market that has anything approaching the Alphas' specs, and build quality in a similar size case - unless i ditch android (something i am starting to consider for the first time). The closest Samsungs are the A3 and A5 - but they don't even have specs to match the Alpha, let alone exceed it, so why change. To anyone reading this - if you have an Alpha, consider yourself lucky. If you don't, and are looking for a great phone - get one (if you can find one!) - its still the best android on the market. S7/S8/S9 AWFUL unwieldy oversized rubbish.......seriously Samsung - where is the full spec, compact flagship model??

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Phone that lasted me a while I have had it for 3 years on T-Mobile. I got it when I graduated High School in 2015 and it's been with me since. It is the most durable phone I have known, it can take a lot of hits and it will be fine. After my freshman year of college I took it with me to Tokyo and I had 4G data over there through a T Mobile plan. The camera is one the best in the day but not meant for low light. I also went Scotland in Fall 2017 after 2 years of owning it and it handled great, by that time I was into my 3rd new battery because you can replace the battery yourself which is something I hope Samsung continues doing to set them apart. I have had so many memories with this phone and everyone at first thinks it is an iPhone because it looks really nice. I also go sailing and it took excellent videos and pics, the 32gb is kind of limiting now. Last Friday, my boat capsized, so I went for a swim and the phone got filled with salt water so it's currently in rice but I thinking it's time is up. The battery life was not great on this phone nor the support from Samsung for updates but it was a well built and excellent phone that left me with a lot of excellent memories
