How do I check data usage on my Samsung Galaxy device?
Mobile data allows you to gain wireless access to the Internet when you are not connected to Wi-Fi.
Your network provider contract will include a data allowance. You may be charged if you go over your allowance. If you want to increase your data allowance, you will need to contact your network provider.
You can set a data limit or warning on your device so that you do not go over your limit by mistake.
You can switch your mobile data on or off by pulling down the extended drop down menu by swiping slowly down the screen with two fingers held slightly apart.

Then tap the Mobile data icon to turn it on or off.

Alternatively, you can turn it on and off in the Settings menu by going to Apps > Settings > Data Usage > tap the slider/tickbox on or off.
Your device records how much mobile data you use.
You can can check how much you have used by following the below steps:
Apps > Settings > Connections > Data Usage > Mobile data usage.
OR
Apps > Settings > Data usage
In the data usage menu, you can check how much you have used, set data limits or change the expected billing cycle for your data (e.g. the date that your network provider resets your data limit)

Either tap Connections, then Data Usage
OR
Tap Data Usage

PLEASE NOTE: this step will differ by device
Tap period measured > Change cycle > enter the date you wish
OR
Tap the settings cog > Start billing cycle on > enter the date you wish

PLEASE NOTE: you will NOT see this option if your mobile data is turned off.
On some devices, the mobile data limit will appear as a slider option instead of a tickbox.
Depending on your device, you can amend your data limit by tapping the line on the graph and moving it up or down, or by selecting Set data limit and inserting the data limit you require.
If you want to confirm or increase your mobile data allowance, you will need to contact your mobile service provider.

Depending on your device and operating system, you can check which apps uses the most mobile data and stop it by following the below:
Apps > Settings > Data Usage > Mobile data usage > select the app > Allow background data usage.
OR
Apps > Settings > Connections > Data usage > Select the app > Restrict background data
