How do I setup my new phone?

Begin by selecting your language from the drop down list in the middle, then tap the blue 'Start' button. You'll now be asked to join a Wi-Fi network and to connect your new phone to the internet. Once you're connected, your Samsung Galaxy S8/+ will find the accurate time for your area.
The next screen lets you insert your name into your phone, which is useful for personalising certain apps.
Now for the legal bit. You'll be shown a list of Samsung Terms and Conditions, including your End User License Agreement, Privacy Policy, Diagnostic Data and Marketing Information. To continue, you need to 'Agree' to the T&Cs. To get the best possible experience, we recommend you click 'Agree to all', in the top left corner. If you'd like to find out a little more about these options, just tap the 'Learn more' buttons underneath each option.
The privacy policy helps protect your information and the diagnostic data box gives you the best hands-on experience. You can also choose to receive Marketing Information. This is one of the best ways to keep up-to-date with the latest Samsung developments and to make sure you don't miss out on any exclusive offers.
The End User License Agreement is your individual key to using the software on your new S8/+. To make the most of your new Galaxy S8/S8+, Google will ask if you agree to the Google Terms of Service. To read the Terms of Service, tap on the blue text at the bottom. If you're happy with all the services listed, just tap the 'Next' button to agree. If not, just deselect the options using the blue switches on the right hand side, and then click 'Next'.
To secure your phone, we recommend using our Iris technology – the most secure option available. You can choose several different security features, or you can skip this stage completely. Select whichever options suit you best, click 'Next', read through the instructions, then click 'Continue'. Click here for more information on the different security options.
Once you've set up security on your phone, you can add your Samsung Account. If you don't have one yet, you can set one up quickly and easily using your email and a safe password. Your Samsung account gives you access to:
  • Samsung Cloud, the easiest way to back up your important information
  • Samsung Themes, the best way to personalise your home screen
  • Find My Mobile, in case you ever lose your phone
  • Samsung Pass, a quick and safe way to access your devices
  • Link Sharing, to share your larger files
  • Galaxy Apps, exclusive apps for your phone
  • Secure Folder, a safe storage space on your new phone
Now you can restore your existing content. If you've had a Galaxy device, an Android device running version 4.3, Blackberry version 7, or even an Apple device running iOS 5 or higher, you can use Smart Switch to transfer your information over. Click here for more help with switching.
You can then choose to add our Secure Folder. This is a safe section on your phone for hiding your most private documents, media files and even apps. It's great for if you want to let other people view things on your phone, but to keep some things confidential.
The next option is for Screen Layout preferences. If you'd like your font or icons to be a little larger, use the sliding bars to increase or decrease the size. The image in the centre shows you exactly how they will appear. Once you're happy, click 'Next' to confirm.
Finally, there's the option to have personalised weather notifications on your home screen. To use this function, make sure the options are selected and highlighted in blue on the left hand side. Once you're happy with these options, click 'Ok'. And you're done!
