How do I activate and use Bixby Vision on Galaxy S9/ S9+?

Bixby Vision provides a new way of seeing the world. It a new feature built into the Galaxy S9 camera, helping you to see more in an easier way.

To use this feature, you must:

1 Be connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile network.
2 Register and sign in to your Samsung Account.

Setting up Bixby Vision

When you start Bixby Vision for the first time, you must sign in or create a Samsung Account:

1 Tap ‘Sign in’ and follow the instructions on screen.

2 Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions and tap ‘Ok’.

3 Please allow the permissions so Bixby Vision can use the necessary apps.
4 Once it is set up, point the camera at an object or location and hold your phone steady.
5 When a product is recognized and scanned, the available search icons will appear.

6 Tap the search icon you want to use to see the results.

Launching Bixby Vision

You can launch Bixby Vision using various methods:

 

From the Camera: Select Auto Mode and tap the Bixby Vision button displayed on top of the settings icon.

From the Gallery: Select an image and tap the Bixby Vision icon displayed on the top of the screen.

From the Internet: Tap and hold an image and select Bixby Vision.

From the Bixby vision app:  Launch the Bixby Vision app.

What can I use Bixby Vision for?

Translating or extracting text: Recognizes and shows translated text on the screen. You can also extract text from a document or text file.

 

Searching for similar images: Searches for images similar to the recognized object. They will match the object’s properties such as color or shape.

 

Searching for nearby places: Searches for landmarks or information about close places with your current location recognition.

 

Searching for wine information: Captures the information from a wine label and searches for more information about it.

 

Reading QR codes: Recognizes QR codes and views a variety of information, such as websites, photos, videos, maps and business cards.
