When you're about to start a workout or need some background music, you probably use the Spotify app. Your One UI 3 phone or tablet comes with several unique ways to use Spotify, so it’s even easier to listen to your favorite artists. You can add Spotify to your daily alarms and text messages, and even sync your music to your Samsung smart watch. Make sure Spotify is installed on your device to begin using these features.

Add a Spotify playlist to your alarm

Instead of hearing the usual alarm sounds on your phone, you can wake up to a playlist on Spotify.

  1. To set Spotify as your alarm, navigate to and open the Clock app.

  2. Tap the Alarm tab, and then tap Add (the plus sign) to create a new alarm.

  3. Choose a time, date, and alarm name. Then, tap Alarm sound. If needed, tap the switch at the top of the screen to turn on the alarm.

  4. Tap Spotify, and then sign up or log in. Then, choose your desired playlist.

  5. Tap the Back arrow twice, and then tap Save to save your new alarm.

Share Spotify with the keyboard shortcut

Are you listening to a new song by your favorite band and want to share it with a friend? If you’re texting them, you can easily let them know about the song using the Spotify keyboard shortcut.

  1. Open a new or existing conversation, and then tap the Shortcuts icon on the far right of the keyboard. It looks like three horizontal dots.

  2. Tap Spotify, and then enable the Spotify shortcut by selecting it. Tap Continue.

  3. The Spotify shortcut will appear in the keyboard. Select a song, or use the search function to find one.

  4. The song will appear as a text in the message field. Tap Send to share the direct link, so your recipient can listen to it on Spotify.

Use Bixby to control Spotify

Bixby is always helping you out, and now you can ask it to play music, too. Ask Bixby to play your favorites on Spotify with simple commands like “Bixby, play a song.”

Spotify and Bixby must be linked in order to use music voice commands. Using your phone or tablet, press and hold the Side key or Bixby key to activate Bixby. You can also wake up Bixby by saying, "Hi Bixby." Next, ask it to play some music. You’ll need to sign into Spotify, and then your account will be linked to Bixby.

Activate Spotify on your Galaxy Buds+ or Buds Live

Your Galaxy Buds+ or Galaxy Buds Live come with a handy way to launch Spotify using the buds’ touchpads. Once you set it up, you won’t need to open the app on your phone or tablet if you’re in the middle of exercising or working.

  1. Put in your earbuds, and then navigate to and open the Galaxy Wearable app on your device.

  2. Tap Touchpad or Touch controls, and then tap either Left or Right under "Touch and hold touchpad."

  3. Tap Spotify, and then set the command to the left or right earbud.

  4. If you’d also like to control the music’s volume, tap the Back arrow, and then tap Labs. Tap the switch next to "Double tap earbud edge." You’ll be able to tap on the earbud’s edges to increase or decrease the volume.

Add a sound profile

We all hear sound differently. With Sound Personalization, you can choose the type of sound that works best for you.

From Settings, search for and select Sound quality and effects. Tap Sound quality and effects again, and then tap Adapt sound. Choose your age group. To hear a preview of the different options, tap the gear icon and then follow the on-screen instructions.

You can also create a sound profile based on your own hearing ability. Tap Personalize your sound, and then tap Start. Follow the on-screen instructions to take a hearing test and create your very own sound profile.

Access music on your Samsung smart watch with Spotify Premium

Note: Downloading a full playlist to your watch may take some time. Make sure you have a reliable internet connection and that your phone stays paired to your watch throughout the download. These same steps also work for your tablet.

If you’re always wearing your Samsung smart watch, why not sync your Spotify playlist to it? With Spotify Premium, you can download playlists directly to your watch and connect your earbuds for seamless listening.
